Tallon despite some of his shortcomings, is a hell of alot better GM than Blowman.

You're right.

But you're also comparing a guy that's had eight years of experience as a GM to a guy that's entering his third year. Not exactly a fair comparison.

Don't forget that in one of his earlier years as the Hawks GM, Tallon threw hefty contracts at Khabibulin (who had one good year in Chicago), Adrian Aucoin (total bust), Martin LaPointe (Overpaid for a career 3rd/4th liner) and Jaro Spacek.

Again, this does not excuse Bowman of his faults as a GM. Just trying to call out an argument that really isn't fair to both parties.

I'm not a big Tallon fan, especially after the way he choked with the contract mess that cost us money, and the fact that he signed a few losers to big deals, but I'd take Khabi over anybody we've got if he's in AA, and I wouldn't mind having Adrian A back in the Indian.

Sure he made some mistakes but look at what Blowman has done.

He's pissed away money on Oduya, Montador, Frolik, Crawf.

I'm agreeing with you man. But Tallon pissed away some money, too.

But what I'm saying is maybe the issue isn't that Bowman is making these moves ... maybe the issue was hiring an inexperienced guy to take over the team in the first place, particularly considering the situation the Hawks were in when he was hired.

Khabi did have a good season, eventually, once the Hawks got him some help in front of him.

No thanks on Aucoin. He was a piece of shit while he was in Chicago and was the biggest disgrace to the "C" the Hawks have ever had. Even more so than Zhamnov.

The situation? You mean the boarder cup team he chose to keep steady with and only make minor moves to the bottom pairing D-core?

As much as people want to evaluate Stan, I still think it's hard to narrow down to just him when he clearly wasn't a one person pickup. His team with Scottys input makes it a big jumbling mess. I'm sure Stan has a whole lot more control and power now but even the end of Tallon's reign is marked by the Bowmans.

I don't think Tallon should be credited with signing Hossa over the Bowman coalition. The only argument is that he was the GM.. the title GM doesn't mean anything if you aren't the person who is actually making the top decisions and making the moves happen.

Well, if they were to fire Stan, I'm sure every Scotty would be following him out the door as well. You're right, it's a group effort with them.

I'm not calling for the guy's head just yet. He's only had one offseason where he's been able to make any real moves and, yeah, it didn't go well. I thought he did a pretty good job with the post-Cup purge by stocking the Hawks with some good prospects + picks, and I think he turned those picks into more good prospects. He also unloaded Campbell's huge contact, which I wasn't sure would ever happen.

The last year, roughly, hasn't gone so well for him.

McDouche: Hawks have dealt with Kane

Wirtz and McDonough said reports of dysfunction in the organization were overblown.

“I don’t think there is any dysfunction,” Wirtz said. “I don’t see any. I just don’t. People can say what they want. But I think people communicate well. Our record is not that bad. Obviously, we want to go farther in the playoffs, but to have 100-and-some points with a nine-game losing streak, I think is pretty good.”
Yeah, must be pretty good having two 1st round exits in a row.

^^^ Did you even read the quote that you posted?

Pretty sure Wirtz comments on the first round exits and how they want to go further than that.
