yeah that makes a lot of sense.

the preds were awesome without radulov.

the fact is we know the reputation of the wings front office, to think they are going to stand pat is a bit foolish. they wont be adding old has been players this offseason.

What I find amusing is the fact of misdirection by a few members which is so obvious. We take "good chance" and push it to the front and center to get off the subject that the hawks arent very good. Its amusing to say the least.

Hell, they have two goaltenders better than what we have.

eh.. that'd be funny if you said that about the Blues. About all signs points to 1 of those goalies being out of the great white north.

I love the absolute talks of other teams and how good they are as if they don't have questions and issues of players maybe regressing or getting hurt like the hawks.

Obviously Goaltending matters but it's far from unlikely for the Hawks to be improving defensively with a full roster. They wont be elite by any stretch of the means.

Ya, Luongo is getting traded so them having 2 goalies better than our starter is irrelevant, but they are also getting a hell of a return, but that is a different story.

In other news, I heard rumors that Nash will be gone before the draft.

Cap Space:

Wings $26,257,955

Hawks $8,809,872

:puke:

Probably because that is with the Hawks having 22 players signed to the Wings 18. That number also has the Wings without Lidstrom, Stuart, Hudler, Holmstrom who are UFA's and without Helm, Abdelkader, and Quincey's numbers who are RFA's. The Blackhawks have no RFA's to worry about (at the NHL level while the wings have 3) and the Blackhawks have no UFA's to "replace" really while the Wings certainly do.

Are they in a better cap position right now? Sure, on the surface but dig a little further and you will see that the "puke" smiley serves no purpose in this situation because there are so many other factors...but I'm sure you already knew that.

Ya, and 8 Million is plenty anyway... the Wings have to worry about re-signing/replacing players leaving before adding more, we can look to add a piece without filling recently vacated holes first.

heckle Luongo all you want but i'd take him in a heartbeat over the crap the Hawks currently have.
I'd take him, not sure I'd want his enormous cap hit for the next 10 years.

All the ones I listed.

Number of players signed. Number of RFA's to sign. Number of quality UFAs to replace.

theres more than enough quality ufas for the wings to get. i know i know "detroit suckszzz and stuffzz" but lets be real...they will improve. great we have no rfas!!! yay!!

Lidstrom's retired fwiw.

I think the Red Wings are doing a lot of things right making the playoffs for 21 straight seasons.

They're not perfect by any means, I give them a better chance to fill their many weaknesses than the Blackhawks.

Not the point at all.

I was simply responding to CaptSerious comparing the cap situation of the Blackhawks and Red Wings. There is a clear reason for the large gap in cap room that both teams have.

Detriot "will" improve.. And you "know" The: blues, preds, canucks, kings, and coyotes are also better off the top of your head.

That's far from comments of someone who would be a realistic or realistic in their focus. The Hawks are the main team being nitpicked because it's the team enjoyed and paid fully attention to by the folks here.

You can say the Hawks have goalie issues, no 2nd center, physicality troubles, and player so-n'-so may regress.. you can do the regress player fear for all of those teams, plus some are definitely losing key players and you can question if the fills will work. The anti whistle blower gimmick is laughable. Okay, you can give the other teams a better chance to fix their holes. Their staffs have the capability to fail as much as a lame Bowman.
