The best chance we have of not making it will be determined on December 21st... if we are still alive at the end of the day, then we have pretty solid chance of making it, if not then we won't make it.

Seriously though, name 8 better teams in our conference.

If you don't sip the kool aid, you're "hating".

Okay, by admitting that out team has pretty damn good odds of being a Top 8 team in the conference is drinking kool-aid. You just convinced yourself that we are Columbus.

Not to mention that they chances are good that Nashville loses Suter and the chances are good they will fall back.

See what I did there?

We finished 3 points behind Nashville with Suter, and 1 point behind Detroit with Lidstrom... but ya, we are terrible.

He didn't say anything of the sort.

I'm still :andruw:ing at the people who got hurt over the use of "good chance" that the Blackhawks miss the playoffs.

Nice try to put words into his mouth though.

Nobody is offended, we want you to define "good chance".

I define it as greater than 50% :dunno:

Judging now is pretty trivial like you and others (myself included) have said.

Instead of dismissing the post with logical thoughts (Strong core of Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook) it turned into a pissing match over semantics.

Jntg & HawkPoster should post on the Hawks official board.

They'd fit right in with the pom pom fans there.

:rolling: Missed where someone said your name in junction with the term "Good chance". It's okay to feel left out from cool club but that term was used and defend by others.

Why you upset about it? It sure is possible the team could miss the playoffs.

Maybe I've missed the memo on how horrible goaltending making the playoff 2 years in arow is going to make it worse for a team trying to make the playoffs next season. It must be attached to the article on how potentially having 3 D-lines will be used in the 3rd period for the first time in 3 years is a bad move.

You honestly think this team more likely than not won't make the playoffs? I thought you were arguing like 25% at most... no, you are definitely underrating this team, especially given the cap space we have and a full off-season ahead.

You wonder why people are arguing it? 25% of missing was quite a stretch, but 50%? :lmao:

Quality post.

For as much shit as Joe gets, he had a reasonable thought that there may be a "good chance" the team may miss the playoffs. Guess its supposed to be easy sailing because we have Toewz Qz and stuffz.

There will be more evidence after July 1, when the statement in question becomes more relevant.

I don't think that reality is that far off.

It's still too early in the offseason to say, but right now I'd say there's a 25% they miss the playoffs.

You asked what I defined a good chance as.

I defined it at 50% or greater.

I said there is a 25% chance, with the unknown of Hossa, Montador, and Toews' concussion history, shaky goaltender, and limited room to improve.

That said, I still expect the top line talent to get in the top 4 of the West.

Ok, so you weren't saying "good chance" then.

I'd say 25% is still pushing it, those unknowns are if everything goes wrong, as of now Hossa and Toews are expected back healthy and Montador is a 3rd D-Pairing.

Wings without Lidstrom and Stuart?
Preds without Suter, Gaustad, Radulov, and others?
Coyotes without Doan, Whitney, Aucoin (can't believe I just said that), Rusty?

I mean there are tons of question marks. Saying the Blackhawks have a good chance to miss the playoffs right now is pretty ridiculous as they haven't lost anyone worthy of note. Sure those teams could re-sign those players or one's comparable, but no one knows what is going to happen.

Exactly, if we want to go off this off-season alone, I'd say Lidstrom was worth more than 1 point in standings, and the Preds combo more than 3 points... those other teams have to be able to effectively replace their players and we are still close... this isn't Minnesota or Columbus or Edmonton.

yeah that makes a lot of sense.

the preds were awesome without radulov.

the fact is we know the reputation of the wings front office, to think they are going to stand pat is a bit foolish. they wont be adding old has been players this offseason.

What I find amusing is the fact of misdirection by a few members which is so obvious. We take "good chance" and push it to the front and center to get off the subject that the hawks arent very good. Its amusing to say the least.
