You know that Elton doesn't even write the words to his own songs. Fuking Idiot

Ok Poo-Poo Pants. Let me put it this way. Yes ok there is some merit in what you're saying. However Elton John will ( tweek ) the words to fit into how he wants his music to come out.
B Taupin writes alot of the lyrics, but Elton John tweeks the words to fit into his style.

Lorenzo da Ponte was Mozart's B. Taupin.

Let's see......I have been a hardcore Elton fan since 1969 and have read hundreds of articles about him and his songwritting process over the last 50 years. He did virtually no writing and very little tweaking of the words. Most of the music was written in a few minutes. THat's the genius of Elton John, not his writing skills. Idiot

Well, that and the fact he can sing a whole lot better than Paul McCartney.........

The fact that the OP is comparing the complexities of writing a concerto for a full orchestra to that of writing a catchy little melody for a three-four piece band (bubble gum pop none the less) is laughable at best. Paul McCartney is much closer to Charlie Harper than he is Mozart.

If I were to compare any contemporary composer to Mozart it would be John Adams.

Well, if you want to stick in the Rock/Pop genre, ELO or The Moody Blues would be my picks (and I would never make that statement). Pretty sure there are some modern composers that might compare, but I don't listen to that myself. Closest thing I have came to it is the Trans Siberian Orchestra lol.
