The fact that Stan used next year's draft picks to get Oduya makes me wonder if he's got something else brewing involving this year's picks.

Oduya not the "normal" blonde hair, blue eyed swede.

Oduya is a guy I wanted a couple years ago. I hope he's the same player. I haven't seen much of him since he was moved to the ThrashJets, but he was solid with NJ. He should be an upgrade defensively over everyone not named Keith/Seabrook.

Eh, Stan's got until June 2013 to always get a 2nd and a 3rd back for that Draft. Tons of time. Since it didn't "cost" anything I can get on board with this rental---I was higher on Oduya a few years ago but for a few months to see what he's still got is okay. He's only 30 so it's not like he's a relic per se.

What it cost is the ability of the Hawks to offer sheet ANYONE in this upcoming free agency. Since those draft picks are the ones used. So, it definitely cost them in their bargaining chips for this upcoming summer....

Because how often are players moved because of Offer Sheets? Just because Wilson was a fucking douchebag doesn't mean they've all wholesale lost their minds.

Parise? lol

****, if people didn't take advantage of Stamkos and Doughty last offseason what are the chances anyone's gonna have the sac to finally do it this year when a new CBA is still gonna be needed.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Well, after getting Oduya, we had to make some roster room. Sucks he had to go, but between him, O'donnel, and Lepisto, he was the most likley stan would declare he failed on.

Pretty steep price, and I doubt he'll help out too much. Probably take Monty's place who will be out for the rest of the season.

we needed a solid D-man which Oduya fits so i love that move and relieved we didnt give up Saad or Mcniel or Pirri or Smith (thought Morin was expendable), but this Scott trade i dont like much...

Nashville over-payed for Gaustad (the impending UFA), so I'm not all that mad that we didn't get him. Even though I would have really liked for us to get him or Roy for the second line. Darcy fleeced the Preds on that one, I'm glad Stan didn't get fleeced too.

Fleeced? How often has David Poile been fleeced? But getting Oduya(That would be pending UFA) for a 2nd and 3rd is not a fleecing.

Poile identified a need for a SC run and went for it. Gaustad helps Nashville match up against Joe Thorton or Sedin or Backes in a series. The possibility of several extra home games makes it a risk worth taking.
