Should of kept the picks. Oduya doesn't even start to solve the problems on defense.

Fleeced? How often has David Poile been fleeced? But getting Oduya(That would be pending UFA) for a 2nd and 3rd is not a fleecing.

Poile identified a need for a SC run and went for it. Gaustad helps Nashville match up against Joe Thorton or Sedin or Backes in a series. The possibility of several extra home games makes it a risk worth taking.

1st round pick for a 3rd line center (about to be UFA) = Fleecing

You are right, but if we get Hammer back you can put Oduya and Lepisto on the third pairing and play the 2nd pairing of Nik and Nick less. Then you can have a real 1st pairing again. It isn't perfect but it will help.

Sure, it will help to an extent, but for the next 20 or so games?

Bowman isn't in it for this season it sounds from his presser. Should of kept the picks for 2013.

I already posted that somewhere today. Management knows we have no chance in the playoffs this year. He is probably going to do something to get a real 3/4 dman, another skilled center, and better bottom 6 wingers over the summer.

because all of his bandaids have worked so far in his last two off seasons.

Don't color me optimistic pal. I want him, McDICK, and Q gone. But the reality is they are here to stay, for at least a while anyways.

Stanbo will make an effort over the summer, next winter will determine if he really is a crap GM or not.

No chance at the playoffs? They don't think that at all.

Oduya doesn't really make the team that much better does he? I liked him in NJ, but Atlanta/Winnipeg have shown that he makes way too many turnovers. A lot to give up for him too. Also not happy about the Scott deal. I think over the last two years I can make the statement that Stan doesn't know what the hell he is doing.

I thought this was the year he was putting his stamp on the team. He made all of the moves last year and over last summer to right the wrongs of Dale Tallon. Hasn't quite turned out how he thought it would. And from the sounds of it, no GM wants to deal with the pip squeak!

They want the core players, the Hayes/Shaw/Saad type prospects or our draft picks (which might be pretty tasty this year). They could care less about Frolick, Morrison, O'Donnell, etc.

30 teams... 15 trades... is everyone really shocked that we only made one move to improve the team?

I'm not.

I'm happy Stan did what he did instead of mortgaging the future for a push (NSH) and making panic moves because they are worried about what other teams are doing (VAN).

A 2nd and a 3rd for Oduya, or a 1st for Gaustad with a 4th coming back? I prefer trading the 1st rounder to be perfectly honest. Gaustad fills a bigger need than Oduya.

This team is so fucking soft.

You can address weakness' without "mortgaging the future". I am disappointed of what transpired or maybe a better way to say it, what did not transpire today.

I would have rather the Hawks did nothing, than the moves they did make. This team is fucked.

Exactly Ton. Today's deadline was as anemic as last year's FA opening. All the talk for weeks about the C's that would be heavily bid on Brassard, Plekanec, Roy etc. where are they now? Right the **** where they were 24 hours ago. Where's Nash? Right the **** where he was 24 hrs. ago. All of which tells me GM's were not only expecting active roster players, picks, and prospects but also to have their dicks sucked in terms of overpayment.

BINGO!

No one wants our fucking scraps that aren't currently injured without the Hawks having to seriously pay up. Just because fans want Stan to "Sell!" you just can't deplete your entire farm system and give up picks and then not expect to be a whinging and generally bitching crybaby 4 years from now when you have no system to cull players from. Can't have it both ways folks---either follow DET's model or don't but don't pay fucking lip-service to the notion that you "want to be like DET's" system. Seriously, DAL wanted Saad for Grossman. . .GTFOOH.

I disagree. Addressing the weakness' without mortgaging the future gets you Brendan Morrison.

I'm utterly disgusted that a division rival and fellow contender got a piece that we've needed very much for the entire season. We should have gotten Gaustad or Roy. Especially if Paul was had for a single draft pick in a less than stellar field.
