Watch, Toews will carry the team on his back into the playoffs again and he'll too beat-up once we get there to go far. Hope I'm wrong

I did not expect much and I think Stan did good for what was out their and what the sitution was at hand. I think he will be agressive in the summer when $$$ matters.

Stan created a lot of the situation (AKA problem) at hand by bringing in O'Donnell, Brunette, Lepisto, Morrison and, espeically, the contract Frolik signed.

I think Scooter was playing NHL 12 when he signed Frolik, B- potential with 83 overall

Hey....hes another left handed shot also which fits onto the blueline roster full of them already!

If this is a way to get rid of the o'donells then i like the move. I could see the Hawks signing him for a few years after the season. Very small hole could be filled here..we will see. get rid of the useless left handed shot guys and bring in someone more capable...oduya is capable. I see this move as more of a next year move as i do think stan will sign him to an extension.

He aint increasing the hawks chances of being a legit contender this season. might bring a renewed energy for a couple games although the interview on tsn today with him he didnt sound overly excited about being moved. didnt sound dissapointed either. he sounded pretty casuall about it.I dont think he wanted to leave the jets to be honest.

anyways...sure Q feels his days are comming to an end.

He's Swedish. Probably interrupted his game of chess with the grim reaper.

The problem I have is...the Hawks already have Oduya. He and Hammer are pretty much identical players. Except Oduya is a better skater, but turns the puck over more. I look at what Nashville did today, and I just laugh at what the Hawks picked up. When you consider management, coaching, and players, the Hawks are the 4th best team in the Central. Really no arguing that at this point.

Then you trade away a great locker room guy that all the players like, that actually serves a purpose at times, instead of just waiving a useless fucking **** like Morrison, Lepisto, or Frolik? Stan is completely out of touch with this team and the players.

I would have rather the Hawks did nothing, than the moves they did make. This team is fucked.

Not a chance they get out of the 1st round if they play Nashville/Vancouver now.

Looking more and more like a:

WCF: Nashville/Vancouver

ECF: NYR/Boston

At least the Rangers pasting the Canucks in the Finals will be fun to watch!

Pez i think stan has given up the season. I think he is looking towards next already. There seems to be no urgency from him this season. Preds have become a contender now because what they picked up today fits perfectly into the system and characteristics of that team. Sadly the hawks feel like a team searching for an identity again and yes there's poor coaching in there. I don't think stan and q talk or are on separate pages. That truelly is the feeling i get. What's the point on even trying this season while these two are working together? Sack q at the end of the year and let stan have his choices of coaches so we can all move on with this shit. And that coach won't be anyone already in the system. Stan going to want to start fresh and that's probably the right thing to do.

Mark my words oduya is going to be on the hawks roster for a few years. I don't mind if he and hammer are similar. Not as if teams don't have similar guys on their blueline at least the future doesn't have old farts like odonell to look forward to. Maybe that old farts band aid shit is done with....or at least lessend a little.

Giving up a 2nd and a 3rd for Oduya, or giving up a 1st for Gaustad, and getting a 4th back? I'm sorry, I go with Gaustad. Stan is an idiot.

So instead of Gaustad for this season, and a 2nd, 3rd, and two 4ths in 2013, the Hawks have Oduya, a 1st, and a 4th in 2013. The Gaustad trade is a better trade, and now we see why Nashville will compete for the WC and the Hawks will be lucky to make the playoffs.

I wouldn't have touched him with our first rounder. Deep draft or not. He's not that good not sure where this bone for him has come from. The trade deadline sure did pump up a slightly above average players because there was really no high quality available unless you wanted a franchise guy with horrible contracts already in place.

Good for the preds though to make a legit push for a cup run. I really don't think the hawks needed to waste their time. They aren't going deep with this team its not that good even if they nabbed who the preds did..the hawks need so much more. I think stan is aware of that. Im kind of going to give him some credit with this one as amazing as that sounds.

was no need for a 3rd line center. its 2nd line center or bust for this team

Giving up a 2nd and a 3rd is worse than giving up a 1st and getting back a 4th. Especially in a deep draft, where a 2nd and a 3rd is probably just a valuable as a 1st. Let's be honest, the Hawks' pick this season is likely around the 20th anyway. They aren't getting any SURE FIRE STARS at those picks.

I take the Gaustad trade over this trade every time. Both are bottom half roster players, but Gaustad fills a much bigger need on this team. He's a center, great at faceoffs, great PK guy, gritty, physical, team player, will drop the gloves. Oduya is more of what the Hawks already have a surplus of.... Good skater, not physical, not big, OK PK guy, and a puck moving defenseman. The Hawks really need more of those guys?

He's hot. And his name is dirty. This team is breaking my heart and balls, so I'll take this action.

Just to be clear, the picks are the 2013 2nd and 3rd last time I checked. I'm undecided on the Oduya trade. Lets see how it pans out. Stan has a full year + to pick up those picks through other trades. I'd rather he gave up the 2nd and 3rd 2 drafts away on a rental than a 1st. I personally am disgruntled more by the trade of Scott. We are charmin soft now.

lmao.

I WOULD NOT, take Gaustad for a 1st round pick. He's another 3rd line center that the Hawks don't need. Sure he's physical, but so is Bolland.

Also Ton, this IS a panic move. There are too many glaring holes in this team for them to be Stanley Cup champions. Our defense as a whole blows and Oduya isn't going to fix anything. Our team can't score any goals. They are unmotivated and look like dog shit on the ice. Trading away 2 picks in a draft that is touted as being very talented was a terrible decison, especially on a rental player.

Just to be clear, you do realize the 2nd and 3rd-round picks are in 2013, not this year... right?

probably, since this year is the weak draft year.
