Depth at swing tackle is a legitimate concern, but you're putting the cart before the horse when we're not in camp yet and there's a whole lot to shake out before then.
Leno handicapped the line for the last few years. He limited what our offense could do. He was no longer servicable and you don't pay a backup that money. He was legitimately a detriment *every* down in the run game and too often a liability in pass pro. On a soft, ineffective line, he was the prime offender.
Focus first has to be on upgrading at LT and along the rest of the starting line. On paper that looks better right now with developing competition at a few spots like RT. As the offseason progresses, we'll better understand our depth and maybe add a veteran.
Right now, we don't know what we have in Elijah Wilkinson (or the other prospects at T). He was a marginal starter in Denver. That's kind of what you're limited to at that price.
You have more than depth issues, you have legitimate concerns if you even have legit starters on 3 of the 5 O-line positions.
Guard that can't play center that did decent for 5 games at LG before a season ending injury now to play RG
2nd rnd RT and move him to LT
5th round pick at RT
UDFA starting at center
Sprinkle in a few low budget cast-offs from other teams
Eureka! Fixed!!
