FWIW ATT changed their plan structure and I switched to one of the "Family Share" plans with just my one phone and whatnot and it dropped my bill from like 120$ a month to 73$ a month..... I was doing the 5GB of data for the mobile hotspot ability but they changed it with the new plans so you can do less data and still add options like mobile hotspot or unlimited texting..... Idk when you signed up with ATT, I did in 2012 and once I changed to a new Family Share plan I got the same stuff for way less.

Might be worth looking in to if you can live with ATTs service quality and just want your bill to drop.

Ok.... thread can go back to people hitting on Mrs. G

Why would you not go the Virgin, Net10, Straight Talk route? It's the same networks used by the big carriers but at half the price with no contract. I worked in wireless for 10 years and now look at anyone on a contract plan as a certified chump. The only advantage to a contract plan is subsidized phone pricing. I paid retail for my iPhone 5 but pay $30 a month, not $100. Do it if you have the $ to shell out for the initial device cost. Also, I fear commitment so no contract is ideal.

Okay people, perhaps the only time I'll ever ask for you opinions.

I've been on my own individual cell phone plan with AT&T for two years now. I've been paying about $90 a month for unlimited texting, 5G of data, and 450 talk minutes for my iPhone. And that's after my company's discount rate.

I'm thinking of switching to T-Mobile for a few months, maybe years. Has anyone ever had T-Mobile? A lot of my friends do and seem to have no issues. The coverage seems to be good in the Chicagoland area and that's all I really care about. They also offer a WAY better package. For $60 a month, I can keep my iPhone, have unlimited text, talk, and 5G of data. That's more than enough.

I'm 22, single, no kids.....I feel it's ridiculous to pay almost a hundred bucks a month and be locked in a two year contract with AT&T. Plus, aside from Sprint, they have the WORST customer service.

So tell me what you know about T-Mobile! Thanks :)

T-mobile sucks. Hidden fees, dropped calls. If you have concern for corporate domination on this world, or lean politically progressive, I recommend Credo mobile. check them out.

People want the brand new phones and the price tags scare them into contracts. IMO

What is this 5GB data plan you speak of and why was my family insistent on strangleholding me with a 200MB plan for the last 4 years?

Where do you live? Location really plays a role.

I have only ever had a smart phone for about four months. I liked it, but it didn't make me anymore "productive" as the saying goes. In fact, I found it had the reverse effect. I hired an office manager, gave her the phone with the plan and got myself a pay as you go cell, strictly for emergency calls.

I am not a Luddite by any means, but I can run a business just fine without a smart phone, and I don't miss it or feel left out. I do enjoy people's responses though when they learn I don't "carry".

Yep. You'd also be surprised at how many people think the replacement cost for a lost or damaged device is $19.99 or $0.01 or whatever the subsidized price may be. Stupid people...

Personally, I think T Mobile sucks. I had them for 5 years and I finally threw in the towel a few months ago. Was tired of not getting reception in my gym or in the basement of my house.

Now I'm with Verizon. Yes, expensive as **** but more reliable than anything else.

If I was married and had children I feel like it would be smarter to have a family plan with AT&T or Verizon. But individual plans for tmobile start at $50 where as it's $70-$80 anywhere else.

I’m the opposite. I don’t have a smart phone but can’t count the number of times where I’ve thought to myself, “internet access sure would be handy right about now.”

For years I had a prehistoric Blackberry with none of the smart phone capabilities. Joined a new company and they gave me a iPhone. At first I hated it for the size and pocket dials, but over time I see it as an important business tool. I non longer have to break out the laptop to answer emails while traveling. I have apps that tell me where local restaurants are. I use the map program and no longer carry a Nuvi or rent one with the car. I have all my music with me. Weather and stocks are one press away. I also have mobile apps for plane boarding passes and my retirement and savings accounts. Facetime and I get to see my granddaughter at any time. No denying life is better with a smart phone

I expected this reply. And I don't deny any of this. Nowhere in my post did I state life in general was better without a smart phone. It's a wash for me, and I don't miss it at this point in my life.
