They could have easily afforded to acquire Kinsler or Fielder via trade.

Sign Jacoby Ellsbury for 3 years. Try.

"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying."

How do you know that they didnt try. Nothing everything is reported by the media. And there's no way the Cubs were gonna give Ellsbury the $ the Yankees did.

Well at least my ideas work at preventing 100 losses for the 2nd time in 3 seasons..................................

Youre ideas are unrealistic so they arent relevant. You cant say you think the Cubs shouldve given Ellsbry 3 years because there was no way Ellsbury would take anything less than six years.

You could have signed Ellsbury for 3 years, but the cost per year would have been flat out ridiculous. Anyone can throw out ideas and say that if they did them that they would be better off, but that is not how it works. Saying that you could have traded for Fielder or Kinsler and sign Ellsbury to a deal that he wouldn't have even looked at after the Yankees offer are just common ideas that people want to come true even though the chances of them happening are 1 in a million. You have a better chance at Bryant being the next Babe Ruth then the Cubs signing Ellsbury for 3 years at any amount of money. As was asked earlier by me, what exactly was there to offer the Tigers or Rangers for those two?

Realistically? I'd hold out for more if I were Detroit especially since they were looking for a good 2nd basemen to replace Infante. Does that discredit the offer? No. But you also have to look a the fact that the Cubs are certainly not going to consider moving Baez who is one of our most hyped prospects in recent memory for Prince Fielder, who would be taking Rizzo out of a job that he just inked a new deal for. It just doesn't add up for the Cubs to trade for Fielder after signing Rizzo.

You're looking at this in a sense that the Cubs NEED Prince Fielder and will do anything to get him. The rangers gave them an All-Star 2nd Basemen, exactly what they were looking for. The Tigers would have no spot for Rizzo as the plan was move Cabrera back over to 1st and have Castellano come up and be the future at third base. He would have been a bench player earning over 40 million on their team. It was never a match between them, plain and simple. You would probably have to start with Castro and Baez, plus Alcantara, and Castro's trade value was in the toilet so he wasn't worth a lick.

And he wasn't had as a FA nor was he expected to be. So what is the point of that comment? The trade was done to trim payroll yes, however, it made perfect sense for the Tigers to do it. Unlike any trade proposal the Cubs would of ever been willing to do.

Where in my comment did I say he wasn't a FA? I said he was not had as one nor was he expected to be. Simple comment that you are reading to far into for a mistake. Cubs didn't want him is what I said.

So more circle-jerking between the people that can't handle the most losses in Cubs history and the people that think Epstein has done nothing wrong? Need to bother reading more of this shit?

Theo has screwed up, so has Jed. But they are following the "plan" that was expected.

It seems to me your implying that fans should be satisfied with that.

It seems to me that you want to rehash the same tired debate over and over again...

I wasn't rehashing anything, just making a statement of fact of where Theo found Joel Pinero.

And how is that different from the masses that repeatedly say over and over and over again about how the farm is doing, how the Cubs have no money, how Hendry is the cause for the Cubs endless suffering, how the rooftop owners are holding everything back, and how their is only one time to spend money, and that is when all of the ducks are in a pretty little row?

It's a message board that is supposed to debate topics isn't it? How do you debate if everyone is in agreement with the way things are run?

I love my country, but I sure as hell don't like a lot of what's going on at the top there either.
