I like your response.

It was so different than the people above you that keep saying that Rodman wasn't a Good Defender or that he fell off.

If that was true then why was he on our team at all?

Why is he considered a Legend?

Why is everyone else calling him a Great Defender?

LOL!

I mean no disrespect but some of these statements in this thread makes Zero sense. So All he did was rebound?

So he didn't shut down Shaq?

His D on Malone was invisible?

Once again....

LOL!

Trust me..... after a few months on this site, you'll be pulling your hair out lol. And he didn't just defend shaq and malone, he defended mourning, kemp, ewing, webber to name a few more. He batttled the davis bro in indiana. his role with the bulls was invaluable.

I feel he's the greatest defender ever. For the fact that he evolved from being a shut down perimeter defender in the beginning of his career, to being a shut down low post defender during the latter part of his career.

There's a reason the bulls were able to win 72, 69, and 62 games. They had three great players. I think the best trio ever.

I'm telling you, if rodman doesn't miss 30 games in 97, the bulls easily surpass their 70 win mark.

And they would've won 70 again in 98 if pippen doesn't miss damn near 40 games.

What I loved about Rodman most was his psychologial defense..The way he got his assignments mentally out of the game...It doesn't matter if Rodman or Pippen are better....They both were in the top of alltime defenders in the game. And when put together were unstoppaBULL....Defenders like them are a rare species in todays game...Rodman being the most entertaining defender for sure....:bullbang:

I see rodman, pippen, and jordan as being what would be the equalvalent of 3 30 pt scorers defensively

Why is it that he was an all league defender the first year (1st team) and didn't come close any other year?

WHEN DID RODMAN SHUT DOWN SHAQ??? Shaq was 23,24 and a beast...show me where he was shut down?

That is just not reality as I saw it...he was not the same guy he was earlier in his career.

Why is he considered a legend? Because he was a great rebounder and defender through most of his career, who also had a lot of tatoos, colored his hair...and oh...wore dresses. His defense in Detroit was legendary...much moreso than what he did in Chicago.

Pippen was horrible at the end of his career and Jordan was pretty decent but a shell of himself. They are great players too.

LoL, thanks for displaying the negatives like always with throwing in your annual "they are great players too " line to sugar coat it......:obama: Good work Mr.CCS security..

Pippen was a fantastic All Around Defender. Guarding multiple positions when needed.

Rodman was the Best Phiysical that could guard guys almost twice his size including Shaq by himself

Rodman was also the Best Psychological Defender... ;)

This would be easier had you changed defender into player...which was Pippen hands down. Both did it all, rebounding goes to Dennis while Pippen was stealing games. Each players strength translated into points.

However, before Rodman there was Pippen with a headache knocking out Detroit. That fact alone gives Scottie the edge.

right there you sound really asinine. Bill Russell, Gary Payton, Hakeem Olujawon, Big Ben?? How about Timmy D or KG? The Admiral or the wilt stopper Nate Thurmond.

You need to take the homer glasses off........please. Rodman is top 15 defender of all-time, but not even close to the best ever. I respect your opinion but he's just not the best ever......../rant

Yes, rodman is a better defender than all those guys. He's the only player I know that did a great job defending players like jordan and shaq. Its the versititly that I respect. Then you factor in the rebounding. And for you to say he's top 15 all time doesn't say much for you.

Maybe I should say man defender.

The word rebound should be changed to Rodman.....here are some examples of how it would look in a sentence..." he's rodmaning the ball"..."he had 9 rodmans in the last game"...."how many Rodmans did Boozer have last night?"...."Horace Grant was a great rodmaner"....

Number 1 he never really "Defended" Shaq, they played 'hack a shaq', no one and I mean NO ONE could defend shaq in his prime. Ben Wallace was one of the best man defenders ever, and he could guard the 1-5 dependent on who the teams best players were early in his career. Honestly and better than Russell? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? THe dude the best defender EVER......he was worth 133.6 Def. WS? Okay I really can't believe that you can be serious about this......

I miss the old barn, seats were much closer. Back then we used to have dinner at Johnny Kerr's restaurant during road games. He would even stop in and dine with his family, and he had a LOT of family back then...took up 2 tables.

The old stadium also seemed louder with less people..you could actually feel the rumble so much it felt like the old building would crumble down...It also had that good old historic feel to it like Wrigley field...Maybe it should of been rehabbed instead of torn down.....

:dunno:

If Hill Valley was able to save the old clock tower in "back to the future" why couldn't we save the Old Stadium???...

They probably would have had the UC not been constructed across the street, it should have been designated a city landmark like the Pullman house or Wrigley.

I defended Rodman in this thread as a defender but if anybody thinks he's a better defender than Ben Wallace, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin Garnett and any of those guys... please... don't speak.

Excuse me sir, I mean no disrespect, but Debating is the main purpose of sports forums or talking sports in general...

And I don't think Ben Wallace was a better defender than Rodman was in his prime..Just my humble opinion coming from a humble guy...;)
