Stig, if Dirk can play like he did tonight I might have to jump on the Dallas bandwagon ... 12/14 from the field, 12/12 from the line. I'm still not sure they have the defense to win, but they do have a lot of weapons offensively.

They really aren't bad defensively. Kidd, Marion, Butler, Dampier and Haywood are all good defenders and rebounders. Terry and Dirk are suspect but they give you so much firepower that it really doesn't matter. Maybe I just don't like the lakers that much but I just feel the Mavericks have the depth, size and firepower to take out anyone. Butler and Marion also have enough size and strength to slow Kobe a bit.
Dallas is a pretty stacked team. They have a legit shot at being very successful in the playoffs, but I don't see them beating LA. LA I think is just too good since they have the size to match up with Dallas and Kobe, which is in itself a huge advantage. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's how I see it.

Well the Lakers are certainly the favorites but I don't think that the margin is very big at all.

True, but I still think LA pulls out.

More than likely true but I hope someone else wins it. The only guy on that team I like is Gasol.

The Amare you don't want to be paying the max turned up for the Suns tonight. Turnovers, fouls, not boxing out.

What an effort by the Blazers with no Roy and Aldridge playing awfully. Camby's missed break away dunk was hilarious (unless you're a Blazers fan). This series looked to be the easy one to predict with no Roy, but the Blazers are a chance now.

I'm amazed Amare struggled, he is usaully amazing in the playoffs and turns it up a notch.

No not Tim Duncan! He didn't lose a step...some people on this site have the gall to suggest he is better than Kobe...

Yeah I know, he has done well in the past and he was playing really well to end the season. But he really was awful, it's not the thing I wanted to watch to get me keen for Amare coming here.

You should be receiving that letter sent to Captain Spreadsheet, banning you from analyzing basketball until you get a damn television...Kobe was an MVP candidate this year. Even with his injuries he was one of the best, Wade did not have a better year than Kobe Bryant.

Goodness man, what are you people watching, you should stick to the Bulls because you all are certainly not NBA fans...

I'd say they were about equal this year but he was better last year. Are you telling me if Wade was on the lakers and Kobe was on the heat that either teams record would change noticeably?

lol I agree but its only a game. Hopefully he picks it up, if the blazers win though, you really gotta start that line of thinking. No one thought they'd be a 3 seed at the behining of the year.

I think the Suns are still favourites to win, and I agree, the 3 seed is a great effort given Amare was coming off an injury, and everyone keeps thinking Steve Nash will slow down (have we checked he doesn't have a time machine?)

Don't know how noticeable it would be but I believe the Heat would have been better because Kobe is a better offensive player. I don't believe the Lakers would be as dominant with Wade as they are with Kobe...no.

kobe has been shooting his team out of games during the latter half of the year. if you call that mvp worthy, we should throw gordon and stucky on mvp list. kobe played like crap this year compared to years of past, this year he'll get in based on rep alone.

He is a MVP caliber player, and he has won as many games for his team at the buzzer as anyone in the league.

You look at his last three games to decide if he is an mvp caliber player? And who said he was the mvp? What the hell are you talking about? What the hell are you EVER talking about?

BTW Hou, did you see Bill Simmons' last column? Add him to your insane list, because he didn't have Kobe top 5 in the MVP race.
