Poles sucks at drafting. He has wasted every 3rd and 4th round pick since he's been here.

3rd round
Velus Jones (not on team after 2 seasons)
Zach Pickens (no production)
Kirwan Amedgaje (far from being a starter)

4th round
Roschon Johnson (mid at best)
Tyler Scott (can't see the field)
Tory Taylor (avg punter taken too high)
Keenan Allen (1 year rental for $22 mil)

5th round
Braxton Jones (low end starter)
Dominique Robinson (scrub)
Noah Sewell (depth at best)
Terrell Smith (depth with some potential)
Austin Booker (depth)
Ryan Bates (can't see the field)

6-7th rounds
Only 2 are on the roster, including players that were traded for with 6th round picks.

In terms of finding starters, out of 19 picks, Poles found 2 including a punter. Without the punter, Poles is hitting on 5% of his mid to late round picks. For comparison, Pace in his first 3 seasons found 4 starters out of 14 picks giving him a 28% success rate. Jerry Angelo in his first 3 seasons found 5 including a perennial all-pro out of 21 for a 23% rate. The only recent GM with as bad of a rate on late round picks is Phil Emery, who also hit on only 2 mid/late round picks which also happen to be a low end starting LT in Charles Leno and punter in Pat O'Donnell. Emery's hit rate is 2 out of 14, since he had less picks to work with he wound up with 7% if you don't count the punter.

For real, Poles is one of the worst of the recent Bears GMs at drafting.

And all the #1 picks have gone for offense, who gets 4 yards in a half. 1st overall - Caleb Williams, 2 1sts for Justin Fields, a 1st for DJ Moore, a 1st for Rome Odunze, a 1st for Darnell Wright.

Ryan Pace gave up the two 1st round picks to draft Fields, not Poles.

Funny thing is he really exposed himself even more by convincing them to can the Fluberbus in season.

Guy is still around and it's all his fault

Guy is gone and it's plain as day that he sucks too

That said.....they'll keep this ass clown around....this time the rumors will be that the new hc was Warren's hire while last time it was the search committee and ownership

I think his free agent signings have been just as bad. T.J. Edwards is just about the only one worth a shit.

Nate Davis, Tremaine Edmunds, Lucas Patrick, Coleman Shelton, D-Walk, etc, etc...

King Poles is bad.

Billings, was also a great pick up.

ZERO percent? 😝 You sir are delusional.

Let's all rejoice in this with the next GM who returns to overspending with "conviction" for "his must-have" guys and the Bears are back in cap hell. Oh wait, you left out all the FA moves.

Buuuuut, none of that even matters until they ever, for once, get a decent ass coaching staff in there - regardless of who the GM is.

>> Chargers & Denver each proved how much having essentially the same roster (or worse LAC WRs) can improve with good coaching. Unfortunately Halas Hall ONLY WANTS to hire nice church-going nancy-boy coaches who don't swear on Hard Knocks.

You know why the Bears aren't in cap hell? They don't have enough good players to give contract extensions to.

That's not exactly something to be bragging about.

He truly is awful and It’s honestly embarrassing how much bears fans pumped him up after every single move the past 3 years. Haven’t seen one of those “King Poles does it again” gifs on Twitter in months.

If this regime has taught me anything it’s that you should never assume the Bears can’t do worse because they always manage to. How you downgrade from Ryan fucking Pace is insane.

Because where a GM really shows their drafting acumen is in the middle rounds.

Hitting on 1st round picks, and to a lesser extent-2nd round picks, is expected. It's not to be celebrated.

Only if you’re a fan that doesn’t pay attention to the draft.

I seriously can’t believe Bears fans would actually write “hitting on 1st round picks is expected”. 😂😂😂🤦‍♂️

Good teams make their bones by hitting, at least part of the time, on those mid and late round picks. If you swing and miss every time in those rounds, your team will have problems.

The first and second round picks have been mostly good, but as high as the Bears usually draft, that is to be expected.

Part of it may also be attributable to coaching - mid tier players often require "coaching up" to reach their full potential. That doesn't seem to be happening here.

The late rounds have been brutal. No defense there at all.
