totally agree with you wins as a relief pitcher mean nothing, you were on the mound when colvin hit the two run bomb congrats on lucking out not defending that argument at all saves holds and ERA count as a relieve pitcher and k/9 is pretty important for RP too.

K/9 = Carlos Marmol

Wins as a starting pitcher is the dumbest stat in the entire world.

So true. Steals are pretty dumb too. SBs are so overrated.

Hmmm... I am going to have to look into that. I don't even pay attention to WHIP anymore, but I may just have to do a little research into that.

SB and WHIP are OK stats IMO. I have no problem with them.

Agree except when the player has a ridiculously good success rate.

I just think its good for RP specifically because it's so much more important for them to limit baserunners. Plus its much easier to grasp how many base runners a pitcher allows with WHIP than it is seeing a graphic showing hits allowed, BBs, and IP and figuring it out yourself.

When it is pointless, they call it Defensive Indifference.

Not true. If there is one out and a runner on first and a runner steals 2nd to "avoid a DP" and that batter K's and the next batter gets out, it is pointless. They still call it a steal, though.

I see what you mean. But ok, 1 out. The guy K's, but you still move into scoring position. Not pointless IMO.

So what if the next batter gets out? Doesn't make the steal pointless. I guess 2-out doubles are pretty pointless then too if it doesn't score anybody and the next guy gets out. He's be better off having gotten a single.

I agree SB's are not a totally worthless stat, yes there are times that the steal means nothing but there are plenty of times where it can completely change the game. So i wont say they are as worthless as wins by a pitcher but they are not the most important thing in baseball.
