The Blackhawks made their first training camp cuts Tuesday as they trimmed the roster of eight players to get down to 48.
The Hawks assigned forwards Rob Flick, Byron Froese, Mirko Hoefflin and Phillipe Paradis, and goaltender Kent Simpson to their junior clubs. They also assigned goaltender Joe Palmer to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs and released forward Steele Boomer and defenseman Dallas Jackson.
"It's a light group (of cuts)," coach Joel Quenneville said. "A lot of these kids will go back to their junior teams. Later on this week, Sunday, we might have a lighter load (of cuts)."
The Hawks' training camp roster now stands at 48 active players, which includes 28 forwards, 16 defensemen and four goaltenders.
The roster for Wednesday's exhibition game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Winnipeg was also announced. It's as follows:

Defensemen: Duncan Keith; Jassen Cullimore; Jordan Hendry; Brent Seabrook; Nick Boynton; Nick Leddy; Brian Campbell; Brian Connelly.
