I was disappointed in Lalonde. That was the worst play on a rush that could have been done. Not sure if I noticed it because it was coming right down our way or what, but it was bad. He definitely needs time.

I disagree with Ton 100%. Makarov and Morin are ready now. Now where they find a place for them I don't know. I'd rather have either of them play with the top line guys than Kopecky and I'm a kopecky fan.

Makarov just crushed a Wang like a bug against the glass in front of us. Thought they were going to have to fix the glass after the hit it was so hard.
Ya it was bad.... but he also made a ridiculous pass and I can't remember who it was that missed a wide open net. Definitely needs time in Rockford... but still very promising.

Oh and.... RUSSIANS ARE SOFT AND CANT HIT!

He was beaten badly and totally misplayed that sequence. Coaches saw that too as his time was pretty limited thereafter.
Am I the only one who was more upset with Stalberg (?) making a blind pass behind him to the Detroit player that set that whole thing into motion?

Doesn't matter. If Lalonde stands up his guy at the blue line, instead of playing it all goofy the puck never gets that far back.

I agree it's a learning curve for Lalonde and I'm not trying to dis him in any way. Just don't think he's near ready. We all know he's a very offensive minded player, but we already have a D man for that. Two actually. One that has a Norris and the other making too much money, but probably in the top 5 puck moving D men in the league.

Lalonde will get his shot in the next couple of years in the NHL. No doubt about it.

I think Pisani if healthy could be an awesome trade. Still feel the only one really hurting us this year was losing Ladd. I do not see a forward that has his skill set in the bunch. Including the Vets.

As for Stahlberg I have not been impressed. Sure he's fast as hell, but we need forwards for specific spots. Ones that can hit and have puck skills. From camp so far both Makarov and Morin have far better hands than Stahlberg, and Makarov hits like no other forward we have.

THAT effective when seeing live huh? Wow. What's your sense of if the coaching staff and brass are seeing the non-scoring intangibles now that his point production hasn't been happening since the exhibition games started? If he's still getting a stall in the main locker room and still practicing with the vets I'd say they're buying into the overall package too.

Honestly I just don't know where everyone that has the skills/tools fits.

Personally I don't like Kopecky on that top line. I don't think his skill set, 100% of the time, fits there. He has moments, but the total package is not there. Does Morin fit there? Can he assume the role and kick kopecky down to the 4th?

Second line you have Sharp-Kane. Who plays on the other side? Is Makarov a fit there? Pisani, Skille?

I think it's a great problem to have because it means we still have massive depth. But they are extremely difficult decisions to make.

Skille-Potulny-Pisani was clearly the best line tonight. But Potulny would most like knock Dowell out, who also had a very good game. Or it allows them to bump C up and move Sharp back to Wing.

And yes Makarov hits HARD. No doubt about it.

Yeah, Skille had a great game and I'm still a Skille hater as I'd rather have Kopitar but that's in the past. Never said he wasn't a good player, just didn't like the pick.

Lalonde I was unimpressed with. He will definitely be in Rockford at the start of the season.

Scott was a big body, got dangled a bit at one point but held on. Not the greatest skater but he'll be our 7th defensemen.

We should have smoked the wings as I think they had 5 guys that are not going to be in the AHL this year dressed.

Makarov looked good. Discussed with my uncle and we both agreed he would be great with Bolland. Reminds us a bit of Havlat.

The only way Morin should stay with the Hawks is if he's going to be playing more then 10 minutes a night. Outside of that send him to Rockford or juniors, which ever the rules state he can play.

That's why I said the top line. Anything under top 6 he won't get the time he deserves.

The reason the Hawks didn't kill the Wangs score wise was 100% Osgood. He made 2-3 just crazy saves in the 1st period alone.

Then guys like Dowell just lacked finish. He missed at least two wide open tap ins. That'll happen in preseason.

And you don't like Skille for other reasons. Stop the Kopitar thing. No one picked Kopitar because of the Russian equation until 9th, 10th? There was a reason. Hind sight makes it a wonderful thing to throw that out there. I call LIAR and know why it is you don't like Skille.

Thanks, wasn't quite sure as last year was his first year in the OHL, but I don't know how that works out with him being American or what.

Yea man... Osgood played his nuts off. He looked like a Lundqvist/Vokoun hybrid. Was pretty cool to watch, especially considering the outcome. If the Wings played their 3rd goalie it could have easily been double digits for the Hawks.

The Hawks could still give him the choice where he wants to play. He does not have to go to Rockford per say. It's just he's "eligible" for Rockford. I do agree that's probably where he'll be far more challenged as a player. He'll just kill them in Kitchener.

Gah! You just HAD to remind us all that LA got that uber-talented bastard (and LW to boot!) with the 11th pick didn't you? :x

Only reason I didn't like Skille. Actually not his fault either, but I need to blame someone... :D

True, I should have said Rockford is an option for him, despite the OHL's grumblings otherwise. In Rockford, he'll also be close by for call up if the Hawks need him to fill a roster spot in a pinch.

You're right though, Kopitar is the shit. I know, it's a little tough seeing the players from that 2005 1st Round who've become NHL studs---Sid, Bobby Ryan, Bergfors, Cogliano, M. Staal, Jack Johnson, Hanzal. Hell, SJ got Setoguchi in the 8-spot!

Plus he didn't give me his practice used composite stick at Prospects camp as it wasn't even sold to the general public yet.

I realize that we drafted him as we had enough of going the "European" route when Smith was at helm. TBH he looked great tonight and I've always said I'm willing to give him a fair chance before I completely throw in the towel. Tonight he proved to a lot of people that he belongs up in the NHL, but he needs to keeping showing that.

ahhh the truth comes out. The Kopitar excuse sounds much better I know. But I was there and DON'T BUY IT!!!

LOL!!

This is Skille's last chance. He better bring it. Weak draft year and he took a pretty big pay cut to stay. Big for him that is.
