Yeah seems like Daddy Warren is flexing his muscles.

The Bears continue to show erectile.. errrr, executive dysfunction.
Easy now, Les. I thought you were going to sit back and let things play out . . .

I actually agree with this.

A caller on the score today echoed a thought I had - It's basically entirely possible that the McCaskeys had a version of nepotistic relationship with Trace Armstrong given how many of his people were employed as coaches and GM, and possibly for other positions within the organization.

I am wondering if Kevin Warren is now setting about cleaning all of that bullshit up. You can't exactly come out and say you're doing it, but if Warren is going to be a larger voice, I wonder how many years Trace Armstrong has been messing with things. The relationship between him and the McCaskeys goes really far back.

As for the impetus of why now - I think the bears are going to sell sooner rather than later and they want a winner to maximize the sale value. None of them McCaskey kids want the Bears; they want their inheritance cut and to split.

So the guy who is going to fix everything is the same guy who has done nothing the last 2 years besides delay the stadium project?

I looks forward to the next terrible hire.

just a reminder, kevin warren is a major reason the bears didnt even interview jim harbaugh.

This guy should have never been hired as team president.

Poles showed great restraint when asked about Waldron. He could have really thrown him under the bus.

I keep wondering if I should care or not. I have no reason to believe Poles would get the right guy even if Warren wasn't involved. He found Flus without Warren... so the bar is so low that Warren couldn't make it worse if he tried.
He didn't find Flus. Flus was found for him, along with two other choices allowed him.

You’re right, maybe I should I should start a nonsensically title thread where I spit verbal diarrhea in a post about it.

He found "flus" as in he had a choice of like 3 guys.

The bears genius George McCaskey found flus

You can say its stupid on Poles to accept a position if he wasn't certain on the head coach, so he probably was A okay with the flus hiring.

It seems like the constant issue with this organization has been ownership who is clueless about football meddling in football ops

I'll be very curious to how the defense looks now. Brown isn't a "micro manager" as he said in the presser. We all remember the state of affairs with the defense that led to Eberflus taking on the play calling responsibility from Allan Williams...

EDIT: I was thinking of our previous DC.

The former DC was Allen Williams not Wash. After Williams was let go Flus took over and then hired Wash as DC this year so Wash has never called plays for us except this preseason.

This is incorrect. The reason they interviewed Flus is because they got from the GM candidates a list of HC candidates they preferred and Flus was on Poles list among others. Once Poles became a GM finalist he was asked if he wanted to interview anyone else for HC and he declined.

I probably shouldn't have said "found". But by all reports, it was his decision. He even reportedly had it put in his contract. And I get it was questionable circumstances to walk into and he had to quickly pick out of 3 people, but he still picked wrong of the choices he had. Flus probably was the worst one. He was also responsible for fighting to keep Flus after last year based on different sources. Sure, we can't know if he really could've fired him at the end of last year. I'm sure the McCaskey's would've told him to pound sand, but there's nothing to indicate that he was anything but fully behind Flus going into this year.

What a weird press conference. Ryan Poles looked like he had his balls cut off. Sitting there, shoulders slouched, looking down a lot of the time.. He looked like a kid in the principle's office when he was in trouble or some shit.

It's either:

a. He's really upset that he had to fire his buddy Flus
b. He's lost a ton of confidence in what he's doing and is upset by how he is perceived by the fanbase.
c. He's no longer in control, or has lost a lot of control.

I feel like if we're gonna get a good head coach, Warren will have to promise them that, even if Poles were hypothetically fired after next season, that wouldn't necessarily mean they're in jeopardy. But that would put us in a shitty situation again, because whichever GM we bring in afterwards would likely want their own HC.
