sure. lol

It's true. It can be argued that one of the reasons why Poles even got the job in the first place is because he wanted Flus. Sure, the McCaskeys obviously liked Flus too, but Poles had Flus on his list of coaches he wanted to hire, if he became GM.

I keep wondering if I should care or not. I have no reason to believe Poles would get the right guy even if Warren wasn't involved. He found Flus without Warren... so the bar is so low that Warren couldn't make it worse if he tried.
When it comes to the Bears, there's always worse 🤣

A couple things that came to mind after watching the press conference.

1) Poles is in way over his head. He doesn't know anyone. He doesn't have an extensive network inside the NFL, so the coaching candidates that he knows/is comfortable with is extremely limited. That is how the Bears landed with Eberflus. Poles is like an associate level sports agent...he's no Trace Armstrong.

2) Aside from the personal animosity, I can't imagine an organization with Kevin Warren hiring anyone like Jim Harbaugh. They are the opposite personalities and acumen....Warren talks in circles while Harbaugh is direct. I have no confidence in these idiots moving forward.

That is what was reported and confirmed by Poles. I mean they share the same agent so the fact it was Poles that wanted Flus is makes sense. Just like the fact Flus chose Waldron over Brown as OC is likely due to them having the same agent.

Over Dan Quinn and Jim Caldwell?
Yes. He was also asked if he wanted to add anyone else to the list and he declined.

That struck me as Poles trying not to shit all over the guy so he really paused to think about it as he had absolutely nothing good to say.
JSN comes to mind. Poles is in a more influential position. Definitely trying not to kick Waldron any further while he's down.

He's talking right now.

You can skip back to get to the start of his inteview. I suggest skipping anything you missed with poles/warren, it was a giant waste of time - Much like warrens entire tenure in chicago thus far

Dont forget QB as well.

Yes, and its also why @DanielCCSBears is mad as **** right now.

Assistant GM as well.

As for the Press Conference thought it went as one would expect.

1. Warren was not going to throw Poles under the bus when the dude is sitting right next to him.

2. Poles was not going to trash Flus or Waldron to appease the mob. They have already been fired so no point adding salt to the wound.

3. Brown hit all the right notes and thought his offerring up he is also accountable for the end of game **** ups went a long way to showing the accountability that Flus lacked.

After having watched the press conference, here are my takes...

It's flat out absurd (and alarming) that Warren and Poles couldn't directly answer the question of who has the final say in the organization when making personnel decisions. After talking in circles eventually Warren said Poles has the final say which I don't believe for a second because if that were true then you wouldn't have talked in circles. You're a multi-billion dollar organization. There should be a clearcut answer to the question, "Who is in charge?" THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE BEARS IN A NUTSHELL. No clarity. No clear direction forward. No identity. Just stupidity.

Poles was meek. He spoke with no authority. He was timid. He had zero presence. He did not look like a guy who is in command.

Thomas Brown has a commanding presence. I thought he sounded great. It will be interesting to see how he performs on the field.

Tbf, poles has always been a pretty poor speaker and has always come across as kinda meek. Granted, he looked super uncomfortable in the presser today. Way worse than ever

I actually got the feeling that Warren was throwing Poles under the bus. Not explicitly, but it was like Daddy coming in to clean up Son's mess. Or Joe Biden pardoning Hunter Biden. (BAMAINATLANTA = No Politics)

Referring to the first queation of the Press Conference to Warren where the reporter asked how much if the Bears issues Warren attributes to Poles. Warren said he wasnt trying to place blame on the past and focused on moving forward.

So the guy who is going to fix everything is the same guy who has done nothing the last 2 years besides delay the stadium project?

I looks forward to the next terrible hire.

Thats why I hope that T. Brown is a keeper..

just a reminder, kevin warren is a major reason the bears didnt even interview jim harbaugh.

This guy should have never been hired as team president.

Many are simply never going to let it go that the Bears didn't want Harbaugh and weren't going to hire him to take the team back to the 80's/90's.

One day it's Poles' failure, the next day it's due to Warren. Meanwhile LAC fans watch their team play Big Ten football from the Bo Schembechler era.

What a weird press conference. Ryan Poles looked like he had his balls cut off. Sitting there, shoulders slouched, looking down a lot of the time.. He looked like a kid in the principle's office when he was in trouble or some shit.

It's either:

a. He's really upset that he had to fire his buddy Flus
b. He's lost a ton of confidence in what he's doing and is upset by how he is perceived by the fanbase.
c. He's no longer in control, or has lost a lot of control.

I feel like if we're gonna get a good head coach, Warren will have to promise them that, even if Poles were hypothetically fired after next season, that wouldn't necessarily mean they're in jeopardy. But that would put us in a shitty situation again, because whichever GM we bring in afterwards would likely want their own HC.

Honestly, I think he's just been humbled. The Carolina trade had him riding high and thinking he could do no wrong.

Then this season started.

It sucks to be so publicly wrong about something to significant to your job. Overall I feel this roster is good and ready to compete at a high level. I hope Brown can be the coach that does that otherwise this shit gets messy and when shit gets messy at Halas Hall - they find a way to **** it up further.

Poles has not improved our offensive line. Seems like the elephant in the room to me.
