Maclean has a better stache than Q which means he will win hands down.

Well....hawks lost in the first round 2yrs in a row, zero additions, Q was on the hot seat coming in, some thought Shaw couldn't play center, or the D was too soft

Hawks went wire to wire at NHL record paces, best defense in the league, best record in the league - in the toughest division. Had their share of injuries - Sharp half the season, Bolland and Hossa a stretch of it

I'm not sure who if anyone picked this type of domination coming in

Do you think Q could get more out of Datsyuk and Zetterberg than Babcock?

Those two weren't developed by Babcock

In fact...what young players came in and were?

Why? Look at what Babcock did without Lidstrom this year? It was amazing.

And i didn't realize talking about coaches in the coach of the year award, is considered trolling.

Amazing? He loses a player but because the Wings finished seventh in the conference, he deserves an award?

Babcock is consistently the best coach in the league but the Wings were quite average this year.

Tell me...any players he has had to develop or rebuilds he has had to go through - that most all coaches have had?

Did a pretty good job with Filppula, Darren Helm, Abdelkader. Lets be honest though, the Wings have been old for a long time.

Not disagreeing with the three nominated, but I'm shocked that Michel Therrien wasn't nominated.

I consider 15th in the East to 2nd in the East to be impressive.

Care to tell us how many players Q has developed, or rebuilds he has gone through?

When Q took over the Hawks, they were already poised to break out and be a great team...

Q has always had the luxury of great players on the teams he has coached.

Who cares about Babcock vs Quennville, he's not even nominated. Guess there's gotta be something though, because there is no argument in Quennville/MacLean. Well, not any logical one.

Sure...Leddy, Shaw, Kruger, Saad...all pretty much right to the NHL without much/if any AHL time.

And the "poised to break out" - were Toews/Kane...who were 19/20yr olds when Q got here

Helm - 120gms in the AHL

Abdelkader - 126gms in the AHL

Filppula - 147gms in the AHL

Those players were allowed to develop in the minors

I agree with Therrian as well. He and even Carlyle did similar jobs.

MaClean while losing Andersson a bit, had 2 other NHL starting goalies in line with Lehner and Bishop. While I agree he should (and will) win it...it's not a runaway IMO

Because some people don't mind/enjoy talking about hockey and in this thread debating coaches. And not crying like a ***** about the game being too mean or physical.

Again, who said anything about Babcock though? You go off on these tangents. You make up these scenarios in which there's like this huge mass of people here who are on one side of some kind of bad imaginary argument. Who are these people? Who are you talking to?
