Nady wants to remain a Cub:

”Absolutely,” Xavier Nady said of his interest in returning after his one-year contract expires next month. ”A hundred percent. It’s a wonderful city, an unbelievable organization. I’ve been very fortunate with some of the places I’ve been able to play. And I’ve got nothing but good things to say about [here].”…

[A]lthough he was signed as an outfielder — one coming off a second Tommy John surgery and unable to throw at full strength most of the year — he’s in his comfort zone at first base, where he played before being converted to the outfield in the minors.

”I enjoy it,” he said. ”I’m happy D-Lee’s got an opportunity to play for October. But I haven’t played over there in a couple of years, so this gives me that little life back over there, remembering how much I actually enjoy playing over there. That’s been encouraging.”

BR: On the Cubs having interest in Ryan Doumit:

I no BR is a fuckin joke and sucks but it's kind of a funny read. Look at the trade proposal for Doumit; Berg (LOL) and either Baker or Barney for Doumit. It that would complete a trade, JH better be all over it but Berg (WTF it will appeal the Pirates, what is he smoking). That will not get a trade done but I wouldn't mind JH trading for Doumit.

I think JH will have to have a package like this; Barney, Russell and Robinson Chirinos for Doumit.

Anybody think the Cubs should explore a trade for Uggla? I say yes and no. I say yes because he's hitting .283 right now and hit 30hr. That's what the Cubs need and could be a good 3 or 5 hitter. The Cubs could offer DeWitt and Russell for Uggla because the Marlins don't want him, due to the reason I say no. Then here's the NO, he wants a 4-5 year contract worth 50-60M and that's a complet joke.

Depends on who they gotta give up.

Uggla isn't that good at D, and we'll have Hak-Ju up before the contract he wants would end.

Let's go get DeRo, Kid K, ReJo, and every other player people still fucking loved after they were traded or not re-signed and hated Hendry for letting go of.

The Cubs have been scouting Adam Dunn, Carlos Pena and Victor Martinez over the last week and will do so this week too. My list is Dunn, Martinez and Pena.

Esmalin Caridad was removed from the 60 day DL and optioned to Double. A. He's still on the 40 man roster and since he was removed from the 60 day DL, that's why Atkins was DFA.

John Grabow will not need knee surgery and could be removed from the 60 day DL by this week and could pitchinat least 1 inning before the season comes to an end. Since, he's on the 60 day DL, the Cubs will have to make a oster move for this to happen.

Mikah Hoffpauir's days in Chicago, could be numbered, writes Bruce Levine.

It's unlikely Castillo will be the Cubs backup catcher next year after a bad call behing the plate, where Justin Berg gave up a hr. First off, it's fuckin Berg and he would of gave a hr up on a good call behind the plate. Levine was told this: "They're not sure what type of game Castillo calls. One pitch he called in San Francisco for Justin Berg cost them a ballgame. It was a curve they served up to Pat Burrell. They kind of held that against him. They have others in the minors who probably will pass Castillo."

That is so ***...but the Cubs still put Hill out there who can't hit and has an OK arm while castillo has a hell of an arm. If this is true, I hate the Cubs management. I'm already not to thrilled about the management.

Also this was the 1st season the Cubs did not hit at least 75hr at Wrigley since 1993. They hit 74 this year.

Waldo, I wouldn't worry about the Castillo thing, there are a ton of other options in the system.

Robinson Chirinos had a really good offensive season in AA and AAA, and he is already 26. There is no reason he couldn't be the backup next year.

If Castillo can't call the game, then he can't be a catcher. Either way, Koyie Hill is going to be too expensive next season for the Cubs to keep anyway.

Well Castillo does not play, so we really can't see and the coaching staff. That was one time and he needs more time. Like I said, Berg was pitching so who knows. I sure hope Hill is gone. I'm not a fan of him to any measure. He won't make too much, 1M is what I think he will make. That's not even too much for him but it will go under the category as a waste of money.
