Welp. I was JUST going to finish my last pack and then quit. I just smoked the last one and was like, **** it, I will just grab another pack and enjoy my weekend. This thread convinced me not to. So thanks for that.
I never smoked more than half a pack a day, usually only 4 cigs or so. But I know it is still going to be super hard. I recently joined a masters swim team and have been swimming 3x a week and biking 2-3. I am going to do a triathlon (only my second one) next Saturday. I am sure quitting is going to only make them easier so I hope I can stick with it. I have no problem at work, driving, or while working out, but as soon as I get home and bored... And oddly enough, cigs taster awesomer after swimming. It must have something to do with the chlorine or something. Ugh. This is going to suck.

You are very correct! I think what I meant by enjoyment is the relaxing/getting away for a few minutes. At any rate, I am hoping to replace that "enjoyment" with the enjoyment of how much better I feel breathing while working out. I have quit (temporarily) in the past for a year or so each time. But now I have much more clear fitness goals that will hopefully keep me going.

I quit smoking about 13 months ago. Just really need to want to quit.
I got an upper respiratory infection so I had already gone a week without smoking it wasn't too bad after the first few weeks.
My advice would be to avoid going into gas stations, pay at the pump. Avoid taking breaks at work with the smokers.

Dear Quit Journal,
I fucked up. I wasn't factoring in the fact that I smoked my last cigarette in the evening yesterday around 9. So technically, I haven't had a smoke for about 17 hours. 3 more hours and made it through the first full work day.
Hard part is going to be when I go home and have a few beers.
