Today makes a week. Not one slip up. For the quitters, when did you feel like you were "out of the woods"? Few weeks? A month? More?

About a month, and you'll be golden.

First 2 weeks were not bad for me. 3rd week was hell. 4th week, I came to grips again and was good to go.

I'm sure a lot of it is how much stress and bullshit is in your life at the time, ya know.

Either way, good job! Keep it up.

You can quit from your own free will now, or quit later cuz they killed you. Yer pick.

I got lots of stress in my life, but I deal with it pretty well (generally). What was it that made the 3rd week tough for you? Circumstances? Or just didn't feel like doing it anymore? Kind of want to know what to watch out for (if week 3 is consistently tough for people)....

And thanks :) It's been waaay easier than I thought it would be. Much better than previous attempts.

I felt I was out of the woods about a week or two in. However, I was really put to the the test about six months in. I went for a cross nation road trip and my traveling partner was a smoker. Driving had always been a killer for me when it came to smoking, and I`m one of those who still enjoys the smell of a freshly lit cig, but learned to hate the smell of butts or ashes (pun intended) pretty quickly.

Wasn`t until we actually got back home that I knew I was definitely done for real.

Honestly, I don't remember why week 3 was tough, maybe work? I dunno really. But, looking back, it seemed like the first 2 weeks were easy. You feel all good, my aches and pains went away, I was sleeping like a baby. Then that 3rd week came, maybe it was because I got complacent thinking I had that shit licked, and it crept back into my mind? I don't know.

If I were you, I'd get out of this thread and stop talking about it all together. And I'm being serious. Having cigs on the brain wouldn't of helped me. But maybe you're different and it helps you to talk about the pitfalls.

My advice, stop talking about it until you are completely quit, and don't think about the shit anymore.

I think week 3 was the worst for me because I was finally getting comfortable with my new non habit. My body and my mind just figured they would throw me one last curveball, lol. I'll add that prior to quitting for good, I had gone 2-3 months the year prior before buying a cigar for poker night ... I was smoking full time within a week :(

Honestly though, I'm well past 5 years without a puff of cigarette, but I still get the odd craving once in a while. Especially when drinking my neighbours and all his smoking friends. Beers and joints, just no cigs!

Don't listen to him! Don't leave! :).

I failed this weekend. I had two cigarettes after my triathlon while partying. It wasn't worth it. Don't do it.

I always laugh when my dad tells me why he quit smoking. “The price started going above $1 a pack.” He hasn’t smoked in a long, long time.

I knew I was out of the woods when I didn't want to smoke when I was drinking. Alcohol and cigs always went hand in hand to me. I could make it for days without smoking but always cheated if I was out having a few beers. Don't know how long that took me but that was my big hurdle.

Keep up the good work!

Tabacco free since Jan-2008. For me, everyday gets easier. The first 4 weeks are by far the toughest. Early on I remember having dreams on several occassions of smoking and waking up trying to determine if I had slipped up. Now the smell of a cig disgusts me... so happy I don't do that anymore

Today is 2 weeks.

First 2 weeks were the worst for me. Drinking a few beers brings on cravings still and it's been years. I had a cigarette a few years ago at a bachelor party and thought I was going to choke to death so that was pretty much it for me I hope.

I want a cigar every once in a while now. Never really smoked a lot of cigars so I don't know what that's all about.
