Smoked for 20 years and quit 13 years ago.....waking up coughing in the middle of the night and when I got up in the morning drove me crazy. I had attempted to quit a few times...a couple times I actually went a few months using plastic fake cigarettes but would always fall for the same pathetic mind games that you constantly play with yourself. Everyone is different but I just couldn't buy into gum or lozenges as it always seemed I was breaking one addiction to start another. So for me, cold turkey was the only way. The single most important thing I finally realized was that I was giving into my own mind games....the time I spent putting the cigarettes down and starting back up was a complete waste. Every time I did that, I had to start all over again. I finally decided that I wouldn't give up what I had accomplished....so every time the mind games would start, I would tell myself "**** you, I not giving up the two weeks I just went without smokes". Eventually, the longer you stretch it out...the easier it gets. I'm not going tell you it was easy but if you can control your own thought process...it is not as hard as you think it is.

 oops....I forgot about that one. lol.

just to add......If a person can combine a workout with sitting in a steam room. IMO, the
steam one of the best things a person can do for the lungs. Don't know if anyone here
likes steam.

Another thing to take advantage of...is if one has a cold and looses the sense of taste.....that's a great time to quit ( that was a part of my process as well).

What kind of withdrawals did u go through?

I used to smoke Newport so I started hacking up big time mucus for over a year and sometimes coughing up blood. I felt like my body was begging for a cigarette to make me “feel better”. Not even joking my dick couldn’t get hard for a month and that almost scared me into smoking again lmfao. I developed bad habits like chewing on straws while driving or going through a bag of jolly ranchers every day.

So are you a ex-smoker?
Hell no!!! :p

I've bummed cigarettes from smoking friends plenty through the decades, but I never had the desire to buy a pack for myself. Just not susceptible I guess. I'm just going by giving up other habits and things smoking and exsmoking people told me.

I didn't think u were a smoker by the advice u gave earlier. No offense....it sounded like something pulled from a book. Good luck "giving up other habits"

Yeah, when I quit, I could feel / taste the tar draining from my sinuses back into my throat.

What's interesting...I read where over time cigs can adversely effect sexual performance
due to lack of blood flow. I've read where cigs actually constrict blood vessels.

my girlfriend used chantix and drank on it, ended up acting aggressivly with delusions and getting her ass beat. 5 years in court, loss of life joy for both of us, total ass raping by the government and now she is sad and alone wondering why she is so fucking crazy.

great drug. try it if you must.

But as the ex-smoker said, just man up and quit.

WTF?

Smoke dope. More fun and it won't kill you.

It's good to see you posting again buddy. It is always good to post after Raskolnikov anything you post seems rational and insightful by comparison.

If you do quit you will have the 5 extra bucks you need for your Xbox Live Membership. Thats some incentive right there!

LOL....You obviously aren't familiar with the cost of a pack of cigs. Ya' might have had
5 extra bucks 12 yrs. ago.

I am just saying, if he smokes a pack a day he would have the 59.99 pretty darn quick.

I posted on another forum about this and got lots of good responses as well.
Today I bought a vape pen so I'll be giving that a shot. So far it's not too bad, haven't switched over completely yet but I'll work on it. I'd rather not take a med like Zyban or Chantix if I don't have to.
