NEW YORK – A group of Jewish activists and community leaders voiced their support for a planned mosque near ground zero and said opponents, including the nation's leading Jewish civil rights group, are perpetuating misunderstandings about Islam.

Interested in forum members opinions about the proposed mosque at the site of 9/11.

personally i dont care if they build a mosque there, contrary to propagandists, I do not believe every Mulsim is bent on the destruction of our way of life and its reformation as a muslim caliphate.

I mean the Roman's thought the same thing about christians and persecuted them, they didnt didn't cease power piece by piece over time and ultimately take over the Empire of Rome turning it into a christian state......um, wait a minute.

I get why folks there would have a problem with it. All the hijackers were mid 20's or so Muslims.

However, like stated already, not all Muslims are terrorists. Just like all Christians don't protest war veterans funerals because of the ****. Which I am still trying to see the correlation.

Correct... Every race, religion, color, and creed either now or at some point in time has been considered a terrorist by someone.

If I'm not mistaken, several mosques were already present within 4-5 blocks of the World Trade Center before the 9/11 attack. I don't really have a problem with it.

I share your opinion, I also understand the anger of surviving family members of 9/11 victims. It's difficult to think rationally when someone you love is killed in a situation like that.

I guess I'm just not a hater. I don't come to the conclusion that every person in a certain group is bad just because a few are. The people attending that Mosque are probably mostly Americans who just happen to belong to the same religion as the terrorists. That's like saying all Mormans are creepy old pervs who force young girls to marry and have sex, just because a few of them are into Big Love. Or like all Germans were Nazis. Isn't that like how people of Japanese origin were put in those camps in WWII? maybe those people need to heal too.

I couldn't agree with you more Bri. Painting all Muslims with one brush is just idiotic. What better way to say **** you to the terrorists then to build a mosque at ground zero. The terrorists tell all their new recruits that the US hates Muslims and wants to destroy them. Building a mosque at ground zero says we accept muslims we don't hate them. Al Qadea would be screwed if that word got to Muslims.

So you think that everyone that lives in Germany today still has the Nazi mentality?

As for WWII some ot the Germans were of the Jewish faith. If they were born and raised in Germany, that still makes them German in my eyes. we have Americans of Jewish faith, but they're still considered Americans.

German's have a long history of Jew hatin' thats been around long before Hitler took the reigns. During the crusades, instead of going to liberate jerusalem they took the pope's decree as a license to go around sausage land slaughtering Juden and making some damn fine bratwurst out of them.

that kinda hate doesn't disappear in a mere 60 or so years. I mean come on they made bratwurst out of them!

What is up with all the German hate TSD? You know only like two million Germans were Nazis? And all Europeans attacked Jews during the crusades.

Why aren't you a history teacher? You could put that nerdiness to good use and warp a bunch of young minds at the same time.

You'd adjust. You just couldn't perform your favorite past time in class. If you were the teacher maybe The H boys in your family could go to real school.

Jako you know it's Polish Sausage for me. Every self respecting Polish girl loves her sausage.

Obviously not all Muslims are terrorists. I just think it's all a matter of respect.

It seems it's like the Japanese wanting to build a Japan monument right near Pearl Harbor.

They don't HAVE to build it there!

If they do, why not include a church and a synagogue in there as well?

Very surprised by the responses in this thread. I am very strongly AGAINST building this mosque at Ground Zero. This would an Islamic trophy to celebrate their 9/11 attacks on us. How can Americans think this is okay? People have short memories it appears. If they want a Mosque build it 5 miles away - why does it have to be right at Ground Zero?
