I am all set. Be nice to lose Soriano's contract one year early, but Zito's xFIP wouldn't fair well in Chicago. Zito had a 5+ ERA away from whatever the **** they call San Frans park now.

I think we are better off how we are, and I despise Soriano.

That is known
:yep:

I love fonsi...but maybe I need to just wake up, and realize that the guy won't do much better then he did last season at his age. I despise Zito though.

Cardinals release Pujols, Cubs sign him for $1 Million. Trade him and Sori in a multi-team trade to get Adrian Gonzalez, Cliff Lee (from the Yankees), and Jayson Werth and Chris Carpenter.

Na, just sign Dunn. That isn't a real rumor IMO.

hey, if that is your idea have at it with conversation, this is a stickied thread for you guys to discuss things that you would and want to do as far as trades FAs etc. Kaplan having an idea is not a rumor, we dont need to clog the message board with new threads everytime there is an idea.

A real trade that could happen, but would be hard:

Cubs get: Gonzo, mid-low spect
Padres get: Vitters, JJ, Capuano, Flaherty, Chris Rusin and Robinson Chirinos or Marquez Smith.

Would anyone do that and do you think this trade could work?

What are your thoughts? This was brought up on Chicago Tribune live.

Both salaries are very similar.. Giants obviously don't need Zito.. and we need an open OF spot.

I don't think I'd do this trade, while it would nice to free up a spot for B-Jax, he's no guarantee to be anything. However, Zito in the rotation for 3 years, takes up a spot that could go to one of our many pitching prospects, like Archer, JJ, and McNutt.

Where does Zito fit in the Giants roster? He didn't even pitch in the playoffs..

Giants could use a good bat.. Its essentially a roster need swap..

Cubs need an open OF spot for Colvin and a veteran SP

Giants have no use for Zito for his contract.. and they could always use a bigger bat.

Colvin pretty much has RF. Why do we need a veteran SP? It's just going to take up a roster spot that could be used for a younger guy.

Remind me please of what positives Zito brings to the team? Is it his worst contract in baseball or his being left off the WS roster due to horrible performance? I forget which.

I say we just use a Nady/Vitters platoon at 1B this year, let vitters improve over the year, then instill him as everyday 1B in 2012

Unless he dominates in ST, I don't think Vitters is ready.

He's soing the same training this winter, that Colvin did last winter. Look at what Colvin did. It's called Camp Colvin. Jackson, Vitters and Barney will be their, along with Colvin.

There's still no guarantees.
