Cash and Coleman are almost, but not all the way.

no one knows what any of those guys will bring to the table full time, to count on them to try to become champions is pretty much pathetic.

I think Loney can be a real realistic option:

Here's why:

FA: The Cubs won't have the money to sign Dunn, I think LaRoche will be too pricy, Nick Johnson's medical history will come back bad, Konerko will want too much and years, Derrek Lee ain't coming back, and Pena--he's probably the best real option.

Pena: I think Pena will sign a 2 year contract worth 10-14M, and that will be right in the Cubs budget. But, a team could swoop in and sign him, by taking the risk. He's still young.

Trades: I don't see the Cubs parting with top spects for Gonzo, so he's out. The Brewers won't trade Fielder to a rival and will want too much, especially from the Cubs (I know there was no chance for this and no rumors whatsoever). That's pretty much of all trades, besides Loney.

Loney: The Dodgers are expected to trade Loney this offseason. He's cheap and won't cost too many spects. His stock is low right now, after a down year. He will hit around .280, 10-20hr and around 100 rbi. He's a middle of the order bat and is a lefty. Also, he does not play bad defense and he's young.

I don't know what spects he will cost, but maybe Flaherty, Capuano, Muyco and maybe another spect will do it.

So, I think he could be the best relaible option counting price of money and spects.

Also, I don't know if the Cubs have interest in Loney, but I betcha they will.

Thoughts?

I f***ing hate Loney. Think NLDS game 1 in 2008 and think Grand Slam. But, he can hit at Wrigley.

I'd rather the Cubs make no trade acquisitions. No reason to waste spects. This FA market has some good names in the mid-tier range, just fill the wholes you need to.

I think Loney will be a low-risk, high reward type of a guy. He won't cost many spects and top spects. Just trade spects who they wil don't need, like MI spects.

Also, the Cubs can then trade Loney in a Gonzo trade, lol. It actually wouldn't be a bad idea because I think that will interest the Padres.

Mark Reynolds is available in Arizona....I know he strikes out alot, but his power in Wrigley would be scary.

Would you guys like him?

Move Aramis to 1st, Reynolds at 3rd

D-Backs are rebuilding (again) so they want young guys back

Think it's sarcasm. But a BA below .200 is "turrible" alone. I still don't want another Soriano on the team. Though he has more power than Sori. I don't want to give up spects either.

I think last year was just an off year for Reynolds.. Maybe with those sort of stats it would be slightly cheaper of an acquisition.
