Sort of laid back - not crazy vomiting and levetating like regular possession movies.

I don't know what a "regular possession movie" is. I did see a possession movie I liked in the theater, back when it first came out, The Exorcist. There was vomiting and levitating in that movie, I guess you are referring to all the hack attempts to rip off the original. Not a big fan of horror movies, so I'll take your word for it.

I have a feeling The Exorcist is a much better movie than The Blackcoat's Daughter, vomiting and levitation aside. I have no intention of watching The Blackcoat's Daughter, so I'll leave it to someone that has seen both to make that call.

Yeah, Exorcist is one of the best possession movies, if not the best.
I was referring to all the knock offs.
But Blackcoat's daughter is different in a way that it seems more real.
If some wack job actually did get possessed it would look more like this than the exorcist IMO.

That is an obvious reference to The Hawk, an unbalanced poster here on CCS. He is currently banned for being a hero. Taking shots at posters that cannot defend themselves is something I can not condone, even if the target of the attack is in fact Satan.

Get Out 6.5/10 Only gets that high of a score because the main actor was fabulous, the twist was shit though.
Split 6/10 Same as above.
TAOJD I enjoyed it for what it was, cool little horror movie 7/10.

Giving it an 8.3/10. There has to be some set-up, otherwise you don't have a story good, JMO.

I was a little nervous for this show thinking that the Punisher might have to carry this, but there's more in play than just his vengeance rampage. Madani is fucking great, even though at times she seems even too sharp for her own good. And Billy Russo is also great. Dude's a psycopath, plays a charming, good-looking businessman type but really has no remorse killing and betraying to get what satisfies what he missed as a kid. Then, when he loses it all, the facade breaks and he becomes on the outside(Jigsaw) what he truly is on the inside. I give credit to Marvel Netflix to developing some quality villains(Cottonmouth,Kilgrave,Wilson Fisk,Billy Russo).

Disney buying marvel has been good times for comic to movie/series adaptations. And it’s not just for the kids as an adult I still enjoy them. Out of all the punisher movies this series shit on them. Maybe season two will be a 10/10 but for me still sticking to 7/10. Now daredevil was a 10/10 even with the background stuff

Baby Driver... meh

I felt much the same.... there wasn't a whole lot of depth to the plot nor characters.

It played out exactly as you would have guessed after watching 10 mins of the movie.

Get Out and Split were both pretty good.
I hope they come out with either split2 or unbreakable2.

Watched Life, last night. 3/10. I generally enjoy the individuals in the cast, but it was poorly executed and paced. If you're going to go with the exact same premise as Alien, you'd better deliver.

This, it seems to me, is the primary issue with the horror genre recently: rehashing old ideas (Alien, but with CGI and an "allstar" cast!), but missing the basic premise. The reason movies like that worked is that they highlighted specific underlying human anxieties. Whether it be the isolation of Alien; fundamental fear of sleep as an allegory for death (Nightmare on Elm Street); a play on religion-based fears (The Exorcist); or whatever the focus is/was...it seems as though most filmmakers have simply avoided any sort of miasma in order to "create" an ongoing march of slightly passable "horror" flicks.
I thought you were giving the LIFE movie with Eddie Murphy and Martin a 3/10. Almost had ***** fit, but I read on.... That movie never gets old IMO.
