Watched two movies on Saturday:
Kingsman Golden Circle - 7/10
Fun movie, but IMO they tried to focus on way too many characters and it fell kinda flat.
Action scenes were fun though.
Dunkirk - 4/10
They took an interesting historical event and used it as a backdrop upon which to try to convince me I have Alzheimer's, I think?
The movie had no narrative of its own, it just rolled with exactly what happened during the historical event.
That's fine if you're making a documentary.... but a movie ought to have characters and plot.... tell a story within the confines of Dunkirk and allow that story to relay to the audience what Dunkirk was like and why various moments/people were important.
Dunkirk felt lazy.... like they just crafted a barebones plot with a handful of characters whom they gave no depth.
