you didn't see any symbolism in Us?

I did. There are little examples of the class metaphors

But Get Out, IMO, was a more cerebral, psychological film than Us. The characters in Get Out were more developed.

They're 2 different films.

Saw Us a couple days ago. Good movie, but the ending I felt added more questions than anything else. Still enjoyed it and it made me think a lot, but I almost feel like the ending made it worse for me.

Us was good but I felt it too predictable. Knew who wouldn't and would die from very early on.

yeah definitely predictable...kinda figured out the big thing from the beginning, but I do like that the end made you think about other stuff. Makes me think there's gotta be a sequel

Robin Hood (2018) - 4/10

I actually like this trend of kinda doing new age versions of classic stories, but this one was not well written/acted/paced.

I liked that King Arthur Legend of the Sword movie, and this take on Robin Hood reminded me of that attempt, cept Robin Hood mostly just got the main character right with the actor, otherwise it was pretty weak writing/characters and in the end was clearly a setup movie.

It is one thing to do a movie left open for sequels, and quite another to write a movie that appears to exist only to set up a series.

Outlaw King - 5/10

I figured this one would be better, where Robin Hood was trashed on Rotten Tomatoes, this one got a decent score.

I found this to also be rather bland and it felt like I was watching a partial remake/partial sequel to Braveheart, as if they expected me to be invested in the plight of the Scots without spending much time showing me why.

Alien Covenant - 6/10

It was an Alien(s) movie and I am partial to the series, so I liked it well enough.

Not much happened that was wildly unexpected and it followed the template of most Alien(s) movies.

It had a few cool moments and reveals about Alien creation which got my attention.

Main character lady played the role well, Michael Fassbender played his role well, remainder of the cast was kinda bleh.

I have a long movie backlog, so I just started running movies this weekend.

I saw Robin Hood (2018) . Honestly, I thought Jamie Foxx wouda' done a much better
job of acting ( as Robin Hood).... than the guy cast as Robin Hood(Taron Egerton, who was terrible to mediocre at best, IMO).

However, bcuz of Foxx's presence in the film, I'd rate it 5.8 / 10

Disagree entirely, I liked Taron Egerton and thought Jamie Foxx's character was shit.

Though I don't blame Jamie Foxx for that, it was shit writing IMO.

The death knell IMO was the casting of the Sheriff of Nottingham who was an awful antagonist.

Hope everyone that was trying to get Avengers Endgame tickets for opening weekend was successful. I can't even load the website or the app for the main theater I go to because of all the traffic and it's been like that for over an hour. I tried another theater just to see and their's crashed. Crazy

We'll have to disagree on Taron Egerton ( he wasn't that good as Robin Hood IMO. I still think Foxx couda' done RH better ( between the 2, Foxx has the credentials and box office appeal. Plus the movie didn't last more than a month. Egerton is just not ready to carry a film. Most don't know Egerton aside from Kingsman).

The writing was avg. as I remember.I'll have to re-visit the Sheriff of Nottingham character ( which is not a good sign).

Actually, Ben Mendelsohn was not that bad. He specializes in playing villains.
I wasn't disappointed with his role as an unjust tyrant, who mistreats the local people of Nottinghamshire .

I'll probably wait until the 2nd week.

They are very good at previews to get you to watch their movies. But their movies all seem to be made for tv quality rather than something you would pay to see in a theatre. They have a hell of a marketing department. Like triple frontier concept was pretty cool and could have been a really good movie but it was just alright.

Avengers presale basically broke AMC and Fandango. Seating is so full where I live that they added a 2AM opening night showing for the 3 hour movie.

Thanks for the 411 on their tv quality .

My main problem with Triple Frontier was the ending. I liked the action, but the ending was just meh. I understood why they did it, but it just didn't seem realistic. Plus, I didn't like what they did to you know who (don't wanna spoil it...for others).

As for the Highway Men, even though I like Kevin Cosner, I don't like the Bonnie&Clyde
slant of the movie. I've seen to much on B&C. I'd probably pass on it.

Seeing the discussion of The Highwaymen made me look it up. I was excited to see Woody Harrelson and Kathy Bates were in it and figured I watch it.

Then came the gut punch of learning Kevin Costner was in it.

But I will check it out.
