I was specifically searching for low budget Sci-Fi films.

Yes because a films budget is a critical factor when evaluating the quality of a movie, especially SF.

If you're a pretentious dip shit.

Some people watch a movie and decide if they like it or not, the budget is irrelevant. I trust the opinions of those people.

Xuder went on a mini rant I agree with, about how these over the top big budget Hollywood space films of the last few years have sucked. Not liking said films clearly explains why we would ever look for movies in the opposite direction.

I don't blame you for thinking it's pretentious though. When you're that slow-witted, any sort of intelligent discourse probably comes across as such.

So that's the post you're going to go with to prove you're not pretentious? Horrible choice.

Things a pretentious douche would say "Not liking said films".

I don't go out looking for big budget movies, or small budget movies. I really like good movies, and there is a group of people who's opinions I trust. You are not on that list.

Or as a pompous ass would say it: "I do so enjoy a a good film, but this Huston fellow appears to be a tad obsessed with a films budget. The poor dolt chooses his films like a misguided accountant. It's rather sad when a simpleminded fool proves himself to be so shallow, while attempting to feign depth."

Why would I care to be? Since I started posting in this thread, 4 pages have gone by. Multiple conversations have popped up on multiple films and not a single person has addressed you or consulted your opinion on anything. In fact in all the years you've been at this site, you never once posted in this thread until these two pathetic post you just made directed at me.

Twice now you've told me who's opinion you trust and how you go looking for movies. I didn't ask you, I don't care. Get lawst, dork.

I haven't posted in this thread because I rarely go to movie theaters, so by the time I see them the movies are on cable or on-demand. I have always read this thread to see other peoples opinions. When you post in a public forum you are offering your opinions to the world, including me. I think you are a pretentious and humorless, these are my opinions based on your posts. There are a few other guys who's opinions I don't take seriously, but I don't say anything to them because they aren't such obvious phonies, so not as unintentionally funny as you are.

Keep posting in your douche voice, I'll keep pointing it out. If that upsets you I recommend the ignore function.

Almost five years you lurk here, then all of a sudden you post in every thread in the bar. It seems like step one in overcoming extreme shyness or some social anxiety disorder. Good for you. Next step, stop acting like a pretentious lump.

You are correct. So far in this thread, I've taken a liking to 3 or 4 different guys. In all likelihood, the number will continue to grow.

Am I one of them?

Oh god I hope so....

I haven't seen that. Is that the one with Sam Rockwell? I've heard Europa Report is worth a watch also, but I'm spaced out for now.

The last film I watched was Requiem for the American Dream, Noam Chomsky. A good concise watch recapping his theories about the erosion of American democracy, and wealth disparity.

Europa Report was a major letdown. I loved The Martian, it was fun and full of hope. As Houston said, Moon is excellent. As long as we're on space type movies I'd like to throw Contact and Sunshine into the mix.

Tom Hardy is a pretty good actor. The Revenant, Locke, and Bronson are three very different characters. He becomes consumed by the character, like Daniel Day Lewis. Different style than DiCaprio, who is a more Hollywood actor who plays himself mostly.

Both are good actors, but Hardy takes it to another level.

Legend on the slate tonight.

Victoria- 2.2/5 - watchable but don't need to bring your brain to view this one. Very simple, will appeal more to the dumb.

Watch it late at night, take a 5 or 10 minute break here and there. You won't miss anything.

The VVitch...10/10...great acting, cinematography, score, and atmosphere. Having said that people like Spartan will hate it, it takes place in the 1600's so there aren't any car chases or explosions...and it wasn't made my Zack Snyder.
