Exactly. And this new, pimply faced fanbase can't appreciate or recognize greatness. Ready to ship a former MVP out after half a season of him protecting himself.

I cannot shake my head enough

I forgot this fanbase is just dumping a guy after an atrocious start to this season. It's not like he hasn't he's been good since his ACL injury or anything like 5 years ago. These fans today man....stick with the players unconditionally like they're your wife or be prepared to be called out for disgracing the city of Chicago.

Chicago routinely throws the baby out with the bath water and the fans applaud it. They boo the home team, and they are generally very sports-Special person. There's a reason why we get laughed at by other fanbases, and the way most of you shit on Rose is a perfect example.

That doesn't take away from the fact that in Rose's situation, the fans don't really have any reason to be more patient with him. He's had 5 years to become relevant again and it hasn't happened. He refused to play after he was cleared by doctors against our biggest rivals. He then got injured after the ACL injury after being unproductive to start the season. He coasted last year and when people thought he would "flip a switch" in the playoffs, he posted the same efficiency numbers he did during the regular season and flat out quit during game 6. This year he's playing his worst basketball of his entire career and looks to largely not really give a shit. You combine that with all the moronic things he says and I'm not sure calling out the fan base for not being patient with him is a very smart stance. This is a player we devote our time to watch, not our spouse. Unconditional patience and positivity for the guy isn't going to happen. Nor should it.

You could argue that Chicago fans are the only ones who have taken it easy on Rose. All the memes online about being injured, the relentless shit-talking, disrespect we put up with for a couple years now, and when Rose finally gets back we see him not only underperform, but have a generally uninterested attitude about it? Cmon.

I'm still a huge Rose fan, I'll be wearing my Rose jersey in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, I've contributed my time, passion, and a significant amount of money on his career, so I expect him to play the way we know he can play. And if there's a bigger issue he should come out about it. It's not hate, it's tough love.

Forget the "saving himself for the playoffs" bullshit, forget pj's high school graduation, forget your next contract, play some damn basketball.

Bulls won't get anywhere near another title until the fans change this mentality. You aren't entitled to anything, you can always watch and "devote" your time somewhere else. Seems like you would be a happier individual if you did anyways.

When Rose was Rose, fans were criticized for raising him up to God status. What exactly do we owe Rose at this point in time?

I'm very happy and that stems largely from not needing a great sports team to facilitate that. I never said I was entitled to anything and at the same token, Rose nor any other athlete should feel entitled to have unconditional fan support no matter what they say or do or how they play.

As far as correlating winning a title with fan patience or mentality, that's a tough sell bud. Talent, hustle, and passion win out in this league. The Bulls don't really have much of any of that. Blaming that on the fans? Wow.....

Novak, you're nuts.

Rose has clearly checked out. I have spent so much effort defending him and giving him the benefit of the doubt. That article isn't an opinion piece. Its hard facts showing that Rose has very little offensive talent. I hope he can magically "turn it on" but sooner or later you have to face the music. He has a very sad story, but he's gotten a really fat paycheck, and I don't see him getting any better. He is who he is. The injury ruined him mentally and physically, and the Bulls have to move on.

I know what it was like to be a Magic fan during the Grant Hill era now.

We'll never know what a T-Mac/Hill tandem would have looked like.
Atleast in some regards we got to see Derrick Rose do his thing.

Just checked the list of NBA MVPs since 1975. In the last 40 years, not one former MVP has fallen off this quickly like Rose.

No MVP has ever NOT made the Hall-of-Fame either. Rose will be the first.

Yeah, and it was a great ride. It's sad anytime injuries derail a career but as we all know, it happens. Rose won't be the last.

He was my favorite player to watch when he was healthy. Obviously he wasn't the best player in the league, but he was damned exciting and played with a crazy motor and a ton of heart and passion.
