i heard that mccarthy is a real jag off though....one of the reasons the sox traded him to tex...not sure if it was because of ozzie or not.

I don't care what kind of personality he has as long as he's healthy and can eat innings and not completely suck :D

if you arent liked by teammates that could be bad, especially if you are an extreme jagoff.

Barry Bonds says go **** yourself.

I love BMAC but he ain't Bonds.

For the Cubs it doesn't matter so much, for the Sox it might become an issue esp if they pull some Voodoo and resign AJ.

Well yeah, that wasn't really my point  I'm just saying if the guy can do his job, nobody gives a shit if he sucks as a person. Sure you might gripe about it, but you also know you need the guy.

Plus based on what he does on the twitters he can't suck that bad.

Id imagine if mccarthy comes to the sox AJ isnt 100% coming back. No one except for peavy seemed to have issue with AJ....With peavy coming back IMO the writing is almost 100% on the wall that AJ isnt coming back and a ****** character like mcc means the icing on the cake. those 3 working so close with one another and it being 2/5 of the rotation means trouble unless one of them is assigned a personal catcher and flowers catches all of one of those 2 on a consistent basis.

This and the Rice quote kinda makes me want to ask a tangential question on how much personality matters.

Cubs getting BJ Upton for the purpose of landing Justin Upton:
Yeah, then the Cubs would have a bundance of OF.
There is never such a thing as having too much talent. Either the Cubs would find a way to get everyone who made it on the field or surplus would be dealt for bigger needs. I really think Upton is going to price himself out of the Cubs range for targets either way.

I would love to have Upton, but I just can't see it happening.

What about David Wright is the Mets can't come to an extension? Iwould like to have him, but he's about pass his prime and has a history of injuries. Time the Cubs are about to compete, he'll be 32-33 and I think that's too old.

The Cubs would be betters off trading for Headley of whom I believe will be dealt this off-seaosn. It doesn't seen the Padres ae going to sign him to an extension. He'll be 29 entering next season. But the prblem the Cubs came out of last year was he's gunna cost too much and will probably be the same this off-season.

I think Headley is going to cost a ton in trade. I have a hard time seeing a deal where the Cubs don't have to give up one of the big 3 to get Headley. And I wouldn't be shocked with the Padres keeping Headley. I mean they extended Quentin when everyone was saying that they wouldn't.

Wright is going to take crazy money, and while he is awesome player it just doesn't match up for the time frame. I think we will get an OF and two starting pitchers when it is all said and done. Who those guys are is going to be dictated by the market. Cody Ross, Angel Pagan, BJ Upton and many others would make sense, but if any of them get overvalued in the market they will back off. Same with the zillions of guys with question marks that the Cubs will be targetting.

I totally agree and I think that's what I pretty much said. So, I think we both agree.

I think the gist of the plan is to acquire impact talent as often as possible. Hoping that an entire core develops at once will rely mostly on ridiculous luck. But if you have to forfeit draft picks at this point I don't think it's worth it.

Various outlets including Jon Heyman suggesting that the Cubs may inquire about Jeremy Hellickson :shifty:

Interesting, but like I said I am sure the Cubs are calling on any arms that might be available.
