Man that's a tough question.

I'd rather have Freddy Sanchez of the three, but I'm pretty much holding my nose at the move.

Yeah Sanchez's bat is probably the best of the bunch, but health concerns have to weigh in on it. Kelly Johnson's O-Swing% trend is uglier than BJ Upton's.

consider the vast difference in defense.

Johnson is not that bad defensively.
I'm considering the fact the Cub's have a horrible offense.
If we are going to keep adding pitchers with ERA's well above four.....

You would think we had this powerhouse line-up offensively to support it.

Oh I forgot.

We are going to tank another season to watch the "master of flipping" at his craft.

Health is clearly a concern. I think you can run an interesting INF platoon if you get Sanchez, alternating off days and giving Freddy some burn at the 5.

It also allows Starlin more off days if you can go Stewart, Darwin, Freddy.

Nope and I'm right. You just don't want any layer on the Cubs to take the field of whom came up from the minors. You do realize he batted .225 last year and a OBP a little over .300 while Barney batted .258 and had an OBP a little under .300. Also, Barney us by far the better defender. He also had 100 more strikeouts than Barney. There's a reason why Johnson hasn't signed yet and may be looking at getting a minor-league contract at best.

I don't get the dinner invitations to the Epstein Mansion or receive other info via alien spacecraft.

So you could be right.

Yeah you do, Freddy is the better player and I would rather have him, but Darwin is likely the better fit for what the Cubs are trying to do, esp. with all the defensive shifting that was instituted organization wide last year.

I think there are a lot of invisible things that the Cubs do defensively now that contribute to how good that defense is now. It's a lot better than it was in the previous years.

Marked improvement, esp. with Soriano who went from shitty to bad as a defender.

No Johnson is not that bad defensively, but Barney is that good defensively that there is a vast difference on that side of the ball. Numbers to support this are hard to come by, but if you believe the Fielding Bible Barney was heads and tails better than the second best defensive 2B in baseball last season, which certainly wasn't Johnson.

I agree that this lineup really needs bats at every spot, but Johnson has only been that bat a few times in his career. More often than not his overall offensive game is actually close enough for the difference in gloves to actually matter like it was last year.

Freddy is the better player

Freddie is old and doesn't fit the supposed 'youth movement' that our master has been preaching.

If Freddie were to have had a major surgery recently I think the Cub's would have snatched him up immediately.

They've already added three handicapped parking spaces in the players parking lot.

Yeah I would love to get a veteran left handed middle infielder that could allow Sveum to actually get more days off for Castro and Barney because Valbuena isn't the answer.

Umm, this is why Sanchez is a buy low candidate now .http://bayarea.sbnation.com/san-francisco-giants/2012/7/6/3141300/freddy-sanchez-injury-2b-to-have-season-ending-back-surgery-giants

An MLBTV search of Valbuena is the most fail thing ever.

If it helps the young kids keep their wind I'm all for it. They're using a pretty interesting blended approach of FA signing and young talent for this squad as well, which should help them bridge the gaps.

The love Valbuena and hate Stewart crowd last year was the most perplexing thing to me, but whatever different topic for a different night. But yeah it would be nice to have a left bat that could provide some games off for the youngins up the middle that wouldn't suck completely on offense.

I was being sarcastic dab. Thanks for the info.
It's nice to know that Epstein has a heart for injured and displaced players. Sanchez could use a good home.

As soon as they are well versed in the Cub's Way. They will be allowed to reach through their cages to touch the hands of their potential owners at and around the trade deadline.

Brings a tear to my eyes just thinking about it.

How's that ban looking?

I leave and you think you can come in here and be a *****?

Bring something normal to the discussion.

And lol at him thinking he's in a position to trash-talk a pretty solid farm system when his team has just three prospects (possibly 4, but I highly doubt it, but Johnson could be decent, as in Erik not Pierce) that would be in our top 10.

We moved up!!

:yeah:

You have a somewhat solid top now, three pretty solid prospects and some depth. Hawkins-Thompson-Sanchez is no Baez-Almora-Soler, but still better than you 0 or 1 (depending on who you ask) Top 100 prospects from last year.
