That's too many years to tack on IMO. The AAV isn't too bad. I'd bet teams tried for a high AAV but less years like 4/$50-55 M.

Red Sox have an abundance of OF now (Craig, Cespedes, Victorino, Bradley Jr, Castillo)

Yeah fuck that, let the Sox have him at that price, and now they have an over abundance of OFer's as well.

Rumors they might trade for Hamels with some of those OFers.

LOL no. The Phillies wanted Russell + McKinney + one other top 100 prospect for Hamels. There isn't one OF on the Sox that has the value of Russell let alone the other two guys included.

A AA player has more value than a proven ML OF?

And we wonder why the kool aid runs so blue sometimes.

Who would the Phillies want that is "proven"? Betts isnt proven and would be the best bet. Jackie Bradley Jr. isnt proven. Cespedes really isnt a great player even though people put him in that category. He is a solid major league player, but his name goes further then his true production. Allen Craig is 29 and would have to bounce back. Nava, no. Victorino, no. If the Phillies and Sox make a trade an OF may be a throw in but no way the center piece unless it is Betts. The Phillies would probably want Henry Owens and more as well.

Not so sure on this specific one. The Red Sox have a Gomes hitting .234 and a CF hitting .216. Another OF hitting .216 and essentially what you have left are Victorino at .268 and Cespedes currently at .230. Gomes is older, Victorino is 33, etc. They have the 24 year old hitting .216 and a 31 year old hitting .216. So you may want to look a bit deeper at what trade would have more value.
