theo said differnt

Sent from my USCfans guide to being an uneducated baseball fan using Tapatalk

If you read the article it addresses what Theo actually said. Could be spin, but it could also be true. Either way there doesn't seem to be an scuttlebutt out of LA over the issue.

Dempster goes 6 2/3 giving up 0 ER against Boston yesterday. Didn't see it but sounds like a nice bounce back from his first Texas start

Weird the box score says 0 ER when he did give up a 3 run bomb... How?

Didn't see the game but I am guessing an error happened with 2 outs before he gave up the homerun.

I thought about the error thing too, but wouldn't he at least be credited for the run Middlebrooks scored for hitting the HR even if the other 2 guys reached via an error(s)?

Not if the error happened with 2 outs. Any runs that score after that are unearned as far as I recall.

Yeah, but how could there be an error on a HR? He should have at least been tagged with the run for Middlebrooks since his hit was a homer? Unless maybe it was a fan interference or something? I can see the other 2 runners not counting if they reached via errors, but the Middlebrooks run should count in my mind. Maybe I am missing something.

No what I was saying is that prior to the homerun, if there is an error with 2 outs all the runs that happen afterwards are unearned. I guess the thinking goes that without the error the inning would be over and therefore anything that happens after that isn't the pitcher's fault.

Ah, I didn't know that. So essentially a 2 out error could save a pitcher from looking like crap? At least in the box score haha. Still a solid start for Dempster to pick up his first American League victory.
