and how quickly we forget about Saad being benched for his lazy play.
benched? Or you mean when he was dropped down from the top 2 lines?
I don't remember him getting benched

After a night's sleep, I still don't get an aspect of this trade:
Assuming Saad wanted too much--fine, we move him for guys who can help us now--and we did in the case of A² and Dano. Assuming A² is slotted with Kane and T² and the fact he's score 20 before doesn't put a breakout year out of plausibility--and I like what I've read about Dano. It hurts losing our 2nd best defensive player after Hossa, but it's managable.
I also get the fact that Paliotta and Tropp were sweeteners. But I sill cannot fathom why in the smeg Bowman got Morin back. To me this is the fail of the trade. Morin's relationship (or lack thereof) with the 'hawks doesn't really even qualify him as a sweetener on any trade, and it's not like Q's going to play him (even though while here I didn't consider him that bad or that good--and Q's played worse frequently). It's like Bowman also got back a bag of dehydrated water. Was there not anyone else in Columbus' system that he could have got instead? Did the deal hing of us taking Morin back?
That aspect eludes me in terms of "why?" Sure, he may not take any cap but he takes up a contract slot--and one that likley won't be used. We might as well have gotten Vorobiev back.
I've never heard of a player without a NTC being asked if they could be traded. He will either put 100% into it or it's off to russia to play with such elite competition like Robert Esche

No, but I do have a George Carlin...why do you have a George Catlin painting Samurai?
My thoughts on this trade and some things I have seen people say in regards to it...
First off, the Blackhawks lost a good player in Saad. He is shifty, can create on his own, works hard defensively, and should become a 60 point type player in the near future. Not easy to find. I haven't been a fan of Saad on a Toews/Hossa lines over the year but he is a damn good player. Plenty of people who have talked Saad up are now trying to expose his flaws, but no reason to do that and homerism at its finest. In regards to some people (not even necessarily on here) saying he is "greedy"...I don't know one person who doesn't try to maximize what they can make (for the most part). Saad has 15+ years to make the bulk of his money...after taxes, paying an agent, paying NHLPA, etc - it really does eat into a lot of his earnings. Good for him on trying to cash in.
This is what the salary cap does. It sucks. Blackhawks got a couple of pieces back that should help. Anisimov (atleast from what I was told) is likely to sign an extension with the Blackhawks at some point, so that helps ease the pain if he can come in and play to his capability, and be here for the long term. Dano should be a player that a lot of fans enjoy to watch and he has a high ceiling. The other pieces are just sort of there.
Trade sort of is what it is. Don't consider the Blackhawks winners at all but can't consider them losers considering the position they were in. Will be interesting to see what happens with Sharp and Bickell at this point now. Blackhawks still aren't in a great position heading into free agency tomorrow and I really hope it doesn't cost them a veteran or two who is willing to take a pay cut to play with the Blackhawks but isn't willing to wait for there to be the cap room to do so.
