I found this on left handed shooting Dano (5'11" 185) who was the 27th overall pick in 2013 ; Dano is an averaged sized player that relies on his speed to create opportunities. He works hard in the offensive zone and is able to keep the puck on his stick. He has decent hands and can find the open man in traffic. In the defensive zone, Dano is responsible and knows when to step up on his mark. He plays a gritty game, which should fit right into Columbus’ hardnosed style.

After a night's sleep, I still don't get an aspect of this trade:

Assuming Saad wanted too much--fine, we move him for guys who can help us now--and we did in the case of A² and Dano. Assuming A² is slotted with Kane and T² and the fact he's score 20 before doesn't put a breakout year out of plausibility--and I like what I've read about Dano. It hurts losing our 2nd best defensive player after Hossa, but it's managable.

I also get the fact that Paliotta and Tropp were sweeteners. But I sill cannot fathom why in the smeg Bowman got Morin back. To me this is the fail of the trade. Morin's relationship (or lack thereof) with the 'hawks doesn't really even qualify him as a sweetener on any trade, and it's not like Q's going to play him (even though while here I didn't consider him that bad or that good--and Q's played worse frequently). It's like Bowman also got back a bag of dehydrated water. Was there not anyone else in Columbus' system that he could have got instead? Did the deal hing of us taking Morin back?

That aspect eludes me in terms of "why?" Sure, he may not take any cap but he takes up a contract slot--and one that likley won't be used. We might as well have gotten Vorobiev back.

You would have to think Bowman talked to Q about Morin coming back and asked him if he'd take him. If Q said no, Morin wouldn't even have been part of the deal.

I had a chance to check out a Blue Jackets' message board. Seems most are pretty bummed they lose Artem and Dano, which was great to hear, especially Dano. Seems like this kid has some serious potential and had a solid rookie campaign in limited games.

Pretty pleased with what Stan was able to get for Saad given the circumstances and the short timetable he had to make a move.

Yeah I've seen many BJs fans (i just realized that's what they are) say they would of rather had Rychel traded over Dano, and Rychel is the prospect with a ton of hype thrown around him but he was also in trade rumor possibilities all offseason like some potential scenarios for them to have traded up to Arizona's #3 pick.

Never know. But you actually would need to get them in the trade to wherever, and if the trade partner doesn't want them, then you are stuck.

Maybe Morin wasn't as miserable as fans think he was?
I never said he was miserable. Rosival was miserable until the Minny series this year. Zyuzin was miserable. Pisani was miserable. Versteeg in 2014 was miserable. O'donnel was miserable. Cullimore was miserable.

I said Morin was not that bad and not that good. Q has played worse than him but Q has historically refused to play him. My take has nothijng to do with what I think Morin can or can't bring to the table--it's more like why would Stan get a player that Q would refuse to play?

You'd think, but historically Q and Bowman have not always been on the same page.

Miserable as in unhappy. Q expects a full ice game and players to be able to play without the puck. Something Morin still has to learn. Everyone assumed Q has an agenda against him and Morin was unhappy. Maybe Morin just needs to continue to work on his game and improve. He was traded because if they sent him down, they feared he would get picked up for nothing on waivers.

Remember the 2012 interviews after Phoenix knocked us out? Q was off in left field and Bowman was off on Mars in terms of what went wrong. Speculation had it in 2013 that Bowman was giving Q just enough rope to hang himself--which he didn't and there was much rejoying and F-bombing.

For all we know Stan didn't even talk to Q and just did the deal.

For a team to be as successful as they have been, there needs to be a load of communication going on. I doubt Bowman didn't bring it up.

If that was the case Kane & Leddy wouldn't have lasted as long as they did.

Plus, I remember Morin requested the trade.

If Morin produced as much as either of those two, Q would live with deficiencies. But many of times, Leddy found himself on the bench too.

and how quickly we forget about Saad being benched for his lazy play.
