Yeah this seems really odd. If he isn't healthy enough to be starting, you would think they would just shut him down to be safe.

Yeah there has to be more to this because if a guy had a sore elbow I don't think the solution would be lets have him pitch a few times each week for an inning.

Reed continues to get screwed.

i understand. but 1+1 doesnt equal 3 with this whole story. im more concerned with the truth than sales elbow because if it was truly an injury he would be shut down.

This is strange. I don't think the lefty closer thing is an issue as long as he has good stuff but I agree that if he's hurt he shouldn't be pitching, he should be recovering. It's like the Sox just got brain damage.

The lefty closer is an issue. always has been and always will be. thornton again blowing another save a repeat of last year. who hit the homerun today? a righty.

there are more right handed batters than lefthanded batters. if your name isnt billy wagner in his prime lefties should never close.

I think someone ought to look into Sale's pitchf/x over the past few starts. I am wondering if perhaps the Sox saw something that indicated fatigue/risk of injury with Sale in his most recent start(s). I have no idea what that would be, but I am just spitballing trying to come up with an answer for this perplexing move.

I get that for sure. but why come out with this elbow injury? the reason for his move to the BP is elbow soreness. <<<<< that makes no sense. the move should be DL not pitching in closing situations.

I agree that it doesn't make sense. I am trying to make sense of this myself. This definitely doesn't bode well for his future as a starter.
