Best players in the league score goals... and Sharp scored. That's the difference. Players like Sharp actually contribute to the team in other areas. Oduya and Keith are guilty of turning the puck over a couple times, Hjalmarsson has done it before, Hossa, Toews, you can go on and on... but again they make up for it in other ways throughout the course of the game, there is the upside knowing that they can make a great play (defensively or offensively) or even making up for their gaffes in the same shift. It's as simple as that, no going in depth about it. So when those players make a mistake, it usually cancels out in the end. That upside doesn't exist with Bollig on the ice.

I still don't know why Bollig is on the ice over players that can actually play hockey. Not just Stalberg, or Mayers, or Carcillo... but Ben Smith, Jeremy Morin, Brandon Pirri. I'm still having trouble seeing what he contributes to this team.

The obsession Q has with him is even above Matt Walker at this point. Q made a mistake by dressing Bollig, and it cost him game two.

Blame Toews if you want, the guy that usually has one or two players literally on his back each shift, or Hossa who leads the team in points. I feel bad for Kruger and Frolik having a handicap like Bollig out there. If he keeps playing, it will not help the Hawks win this series. Period. There's no upside to having him dressed. I'm not blaming the 4th line plug, or saying all the Hawks problems don't exist... I'm just being honest... he looked like a peewee on that play and it cost the game.

My point is those bad bounces and play on the boards happen to everybody. Bollig got caught on a mishandle.

IMO Bollig is on the ice because he's a big body who can match up with anyone if things get crazy (which we all know Boston can do), he plays physical and decent on the forecheck. He's typically not a liabitlity in his own zone despite what happened last night.

I honestly think Carcillo would be a bit more effective in that spot as he's a bit more skilled, but that's what you are looking for from your 12th forward, who plays on the 4th line and the least minutes of everyone.
