The PP has sucked balls all year long. Who is that on if not the coaching staff? They have run the same scheme for years, and it just does not seem to work anymore. Q has got his guy running it now, and it still sucks. As you point out, this team has way too much talent for it not to perform. And when it comes to the guys that Q has put out there on the PP this year, there have really been some winners on it...

As for Stalberg, like I stated before, I have no problem with sitting him. But, I do have a problem with playing Carcillo or Bollig over a guy like Smith, who has proven in the past that he can be effective in the playoffs. It is only a matter of time until Carcillo pulls a Torres and hurts this team more than he will ever help. He just cannot help himself.

So what you're saying is fire Q because the PP "sucked balls" and because he wants to play Carcillo instead of Stalberg or Smith. A 36-7-5 regular season that beat out every other team in a tough conference by 11 points and winning 5 of the first 6 playoff games doesnt get him a pass? A regular season record of 222-106-44 as Hawk coach don't get it done either? You're not buying the first Blackhawk cup in 50 years in 2010?

WOW!! Glad you're not my boss.

Q's guy, I think his name is Tampon, ran the Kings PP into the ground. I didn't think he was gonna change just by being here. It was funny, but there were Hawk fans saying the PP was fixed during the first couple of weeks and stated the PP woes were a thing of the past with a couple 5/3's and an own goal. Funny how things turned out once teams started to get into a professional rhythm. Nobody was gonna stop the bleeding. Imo, the Hawks have too much skill on a PP, but a guy like Frolik out there or something. This crap at having guys like Sharp and Bolland on a point should have been nuked before somebody thought it was a bright idea. Neither have the shot northe QB skill to line up a play. You can say Kane is the PP QB and you would be correct, but Sharp isn't a great option playing on the point when his one timer would be far better utilized a bit closer to the damn dot.

They miss Campbell. They miss Buff even more.

Ya know what? Let Q play Carbomb. He will no doubt run somebody and have him leave the ice on a stretcher. That's a horrible thing to say, but it might be the only way Q see's having him on the ice is just plain wrong right now.

That is the same sort of logic that kept Lovie around forever. This team won a lot of games this season in spite of Q. I dare to wonder how much more confidence Crawford would have if Q didn't mind **** him every chance he got. At some point you have to start questioning whether or not Q is the right coach for this team, regardless of what his record is. If the Hawks do not make it to the Finals this year, not necessarily win, but at least make it, you have to start asking some tough questions. Q just keep raising more of them.

Thats the whole trouble right there. Most of the good PPs in the league have big thumpers at the point. They use Keith at the point and his puck handling skills are fine but his shot is a joke. He cant seem to get it thru traffic and when he does its almost always wide. Their best bet is Seabs but his puck handling is questionable. Leddy's passing needs a nip n a tuck. They talk a lot about causing traffic in front but even if they did, it wouldnt mean shit if the point shots arent getting thru. You're right, Buff wouldve been the answer but at the point....not in front.

I don't know, man. Q has a track record of being a great coach. He won with possibly one of the most stacked teams outside of the original six days and even then they should have steam rolled the Flyers. This years model doesn't have the skill depth but it does indeed have a basis of talent four lines and six defenders deep. If he doesn't win a Cup with this team I actually do wonder if he gets canned. Theres no denying Q is a great coach, he is, but great coaches get canned when the expectations get a bit too high and with this team, theres no excuse McDumbass can come up with to give him another year. None.

If benching Stalberg lights a fire under his ass then Q comes out looking like an intellectual mind who can see thru the cloudy mental midgetry that is the maraca Viktor calls a brain. I am all for it. If Q thinks allowing Carbomb to board some guy into a seizure in this round against a pillow soft team when Carcillo should do that crap against whomever they play next round, go ahead. I saw enough of the Wings last night to see that they are completely hopeless and totally out classed once the Hawks actually feel like playing. I don't know what is going on in the locker room nor do I care. Hopefully Q does but so far it seems he is winging it when he should be pushing this team to dominate every single shift, every game.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have to shave my back hair.

I agree with all this. I also want to add that neither Bolland or Sharp have a shot worth a damn to intimidate a PK. Well, maybe Bolland to an extent, but he should ever hold the puck, just line up a shot. Buff was completely nasty on the point. His shot was so damn powerful, I miss those days when the other team didn't want a thing to do with his one timer. And yes, he was just as effective on the point as he was in front of the net. The great thing about him in front of the net was nobody could move him, which is the one thing this team needs right now if they want to work shots from the point and Shaw doesn't do it. He just stands there and watches Kane like a fan.

Like I said, theres too much skill on this PP when I bet you money if you put Kane out there with Rozi, Seabs, Zua and Sharp you would get better results, but that's just me typing out while I am taking a huge Italian beef shit while on a tablet. Fucking hot peppers, I am like a child, cant seem to say no when I see them on the line.

And the logical point for that questioning is when the coach has one of the most successful regular seasons in league history and is up 1-0 in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Way to cherry pick part of my comment. Like I said, you have to start asking those questions if they do not at least make it to the Finals. Would no one have started questioning Phil Jackson if some of those Bulls teams hadn't won the championships? Phil was a great coach, but how much was him as a coach, and how much was the amazing teams that he had around him? Let us not forget that Q came in and replaced Savard very early in 08-09 season. Savard was determined not to be the right fit for that team early in the season. Q was determined to be the right guy at that time. All I am saying, is that maybe he is no longer the right guy for the team at the point it is at now. The team has grown and matured tremendously since that point. How many games this year would the Hawks have lost had Kaner not decided to finally grow up and give a shit night in and night out?

The problem is that in both Jackson's and Quenville's case, the franchises weren't really winning championships prior to their arrivals. The Bulls never won squat before Jackson, and the Blackhawks hadn't won the title in a long time. In fact, in the early-90's the Blackhawks had the deepest team in the NHL every year, yet only made the Finals once and got beaten badly by Pittsburgh. You make it seem like these guys are stepping in for the Yankees in the midst of 10 straight World Series rings.

My point is that both teams had a lot of talent on them when the coach was brought in. It is not like either Phil or Q were brought in to coach a team like the Cubs this year or last. They both came to a team that was expected to make the next step, and had the talent to do so.

The Phil Jackson / Q comparison is worthless, IMO.... The NBA has what is a much more superstar driven league and the Bulls had the best player of all time. The NHL is much more team oriented and is the hardest playoffs to go through, hence why you see a lot more "dynasties" in the NBA as opposed to the NHL. They are too different to compare.

I also find it funny that some of you are ripping on Q all of a sudden.... Because he benched the untouchable "Stalgod." Gimme a break. No one was complaining about the average PP during their first place regular season. No one was complaining about the PP as they beat the Wild 4-1. Now, after a 3rd liner gets benched when one of our best playoff performers comes back from injury, people want to fire Q? Rofl, that logic makes no sense to me. If any discussion should be going on about "Stalgod" being benched it should be praise for Bowman for bringing in a ridiculous amount of depth and for Q's ability to coach said depth up and to stick with people like Saad, who had a disappointing first 8-10 games and could have been benched early on.

IMO - this whole conversation reeks of spoiled fans.

:yep:

When I heard that stat on the radio...16 playoff games...0 goals for Viktor...I had less of an issue with the benching. I still don't think it's a good idea, but hopefully Q continues to prove me wrong on that. I just don't believe in rocking the boat from what worked in the regular season, but the Blackhawks will probably be without Viktor next year regardless.

Bingo.

The Q ripping baffles me.

and the Stalberg stuff needs to stop. He is a depth forward for us. Q took him out and the Hawks played their best playoff game so far this season.

But I still believe he should be playing over Carcillo and I think he will be tomorrow. Q was motivating him I am sure. Remember like 3-4 years ago when he benched Kane?

To be honest, I'm not 100% what is going through Q's mind. Was Stalberg bitching? Does he value Carcillo's toughness moving forward and confident he won't play stupid? Does Stalberg's lack of playoff success come into the picture? I don't know the answer, the only people that do are Q and maybe Stalberg. What I do know is that Bolland is a perfect playoff shutdown 3C, who has proven to get into star player's heads come playoff time, so he needs to be in there. I'm not saying it was all Bolland last game, but did anyone notice how many shots Dats had? Zero.

I guess in the end, I trust Q enough to manage this team.

Bolland definitely stepped up last game. Seems Q has gotten away from matching lines as much as he did in the past, which I'm fine with. The big stat that I saw regarding Dats is that he had 27 shifts, and I believe Keith was on the ice for 24 of them.

I agree with you on Q. There is no reason I shouldn't trust him at this point. This team has showed up for almost every game this year. Sure the players have a lot to do with it, but Q seems to be getting the most out of them.

My point is that both teams had a lot of talent on them when the coach was brought in. It is not like either Phil or Q were brought in to coach a team like the Cubs this year or last. They both came to a team that was expected to make the next step, and had the talent to do so.

The similarities between the two is pretty amazing.

Both replaced very popular and somewhat successful coaches in Doug Collins and Denis Savard.

The reason for replacing them was almost identical....Jackson and Q were needed for the team to make the next step.

Jackson won when he supposed to win. MJ decided to play baseball....Jackson didnt win for two years although the Bulls stayed highly competitive. Jordan returned and the Bulls won again

Q won when he was supposed to win. Because of Tallon's poor cap management the Hawks had to re-tool.......Q didnt win for two years although the Hawks also stayed highly competitive. The Hawks have recovered from players lost after the Cup year and look to be ready win again.

Phil Jackson was never fired by the Bulls....he walked away because of Krause's rebuilding intentions, took a year off and won 3 straight titles with the Lakers.

Coach Q's final chapter in Chicago is yet to be written but I'd be surprised to see him going anywhere soon.

Well, I dunno, Q was just revealed as a finalist for the Jack Adams coaching award (even though MacLean will win it). He must suck ;)

Bolland was great defensively last game...loved seeing him mix it up with abdelkader too

Q has earned nothing but my ultimate respect and trust....but I am just a fan so who cares? lol

Q deserves it. Great regular season during shortened year (less practice, time off, etc) and his team has been the most dominant playoff team thus far

Just a guess....but it could be that as long as he's got Bolland centering the 3rd line that he would use them more defensively than offensively which would make Stalberg a square peg going in a round hole.
