Okay, I will put it to rest like this...Wilt was physically a dominant player mainly because he was friggin huge...and he would be now if he was the same size, he also had a lot of skill and ability on both sides of the court.

That said, I personally would take Shaq over Russell if I had to pick between the two, as well as other players because they were better in my opinion. MVPs were brought up...high jumping...and old grainy footage and people calling people pussies all came into the argument...I don't give a damn...if you look at Shaq and Russell and say, give me Russell...that's you...I will never do that. Russell to me is not a top 5 center based on talent. Now based on accomplishments? He is arguably the best ever, of any player...he has a great resume...but Wilt was the best player in basketball in that era by quite a margin in my opinion. And he would be a great player today...just don't feel that way about Russell at all.

Just my opinion...

I don't think anyone here said they'd take Russell over Shaq............

Not sure where any of that is coming from...again

I'm really not "debating" anything.

Houf has just taken like 3 things I've said and applied them in a completely incorrect way.

Wilt>Russel.

I never said anything to the contrary.

Lol now you are "debating" about not "debating" lol how do you keep a wife/girlfriend haha

Also Just to be clear if Rami said it, it doesn't matter.

He wasn't sure if Robertson>Drexler.

I'm pretty sure no one here takes his basketball posts seriously.

I haven't seen enough of Oscar Robertson to really make a judgement one way or another. Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell intrigued me a lot more than him, so those are the guys who I read about and watched every clip that I could find of them. Just from that alone, I know just how great Jerry West was and how deep the Celtics were back in the 60's.

See my previous post when you said this.

Yeah, it brought the lulz. At least I'm not going to make an ass out of myself and try to speak about something I know little-to-nothing about. It was a mistake to make a top 9 list without really knowing much about the NBA in the 1970's. I should have put an asterisk next and given some credit to Oscar Robertson. I really don't know much about George Gervin either because I haven't seen much of him playing.

Well go find some Robertson and Gervin clips and watch them. You will be amazed. Have you seen a Gervin free throw line finger roll? It's a thing of beauty. Robertson...well he will speak for himself.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of their mixtapes and I know that Gervin was the master of the finger roll. But there's only so much you can learn from those. Wilt and Russell have a lot more film and written word on their careers for whatever reasons.

I was never that impressed by the Oscar mixes I've seen, but the stats that he put up were undeniable.

Did you really just imply that because you don't know much about the NBA in the 70's that it affected your ability to evaluate Oscar?

You might want to reevaluate what you think you know about basketball in the 60's.

Basketball reference isn't the end-all be-all of basketball knowledge. Knowing what someone averaged doesn't necessarily mean you can measure them as a player completely.

 :turrible: :obama: :deer: :kermit: :oprah:

Holy shit......

Did you REALLY miss the entire point of that?

Hint: It had NOTHING to do with his stats.

Oscar is one of those players that I don't know from the 60's and 70's. There isn't a whole lot of players from the 70's that I could ever claim to be able to evaluate (i.e. Willis Reed, Julius Erving, Rick Barry, George Gervin). I don't see how anybody who hasn't seen a player actually play on a consistent basis could ever say that they can give what is basically a scouting report for them. I know a lot about Lakers and Celtics basketball prior to the year 1970 but not much else is a lot of detail.

Yeah, I get that's what you meant on second thought. Oscar played in both decades anyway. The heart of the NBA in the 60's revolved around the Celtics and Lakers anyway. There isn't much else I can speak of.

1. You had a first thought?

2. .................................... Vast majority and his best seasons were in the 60's. Come on.
