How long until we should find out the PTBNL? Although it will probably just be a shit toss-in, still curious..

We will se what he can do in the AL. Strailey has shown flashes much like Arrieta, so the Cubs just got 4 years younger and 4 more years of control.

That opens up more avenues for the Cubs to spend money now and you have to know that Jason McLeod has his hands all up in this shit.

Hope everyone is happy now. Two relatively proven commodities for two players that you "hope" will develop and the bonus is the best one is a shortstop. That's means arguably your best player now has two promising backups. Just fucking terrific. But all the Cub apologists should be wearing a smile as your guy, Ricketts didn't have to open his wallet for Tank.

This should sit real well in the clubhouse...the team is finally scoring a few runs and winning some games and management drops this on them.

Again what person here thought Shark would net a top 10 arguably top 5 prospect in baseball? No one thought he would net a piece like that. The rest is hardly garbage and quality is always better than quantity. Don't get locked into getting arms (again have you seen the TJS epidemic this year?). The Cubs got a huge prospect. A guy on the level of Baez/Bryant. Some might argue slightly better or slightly worse, but that is the level of guy we got back for those two.

Any player in the clubhouse who wasn't expecting a trade of a pending FA and a guy who refuses to sign long term is too dumb to be around. Trade them too.

Any player who thinks scoring a few runs two games in a row will turn a team well out of contention into a buyer at the deadline should be traded as well.

As for backups.....people on here ***** "What about "Plan B. What if the prospects fail? Don't you realize a lot of prospects fail?" Now we're hearing bitching about too much depth.

Look at the trade this way:

We traded a guy (Shark) that we have to trade, and netted a Top 14 prospect and the A's 2nd best prospect.

We traded Hammel for a guy who had a better ERA than Hammel when both pitched in the AL last year, who is several years younger. And we got a PTBNL along with him.
