What track record? Can you link to actual reports from actual named individuals?

And correct it isnt the same thing. Claypool's character issues didnt help kill two people.
Oddly enough those issues didn't cause him to me charged for those deaths so I guess the law saw it differently than you did.

Fields
“Chase has improved tremendously, just from the end of last year to now,” Fields said. “That's one thing I'm truly proud to say, just seeing his work ethic, his attitude change, you can just see he's taken another step. Definitely excited for that.”

Tolbert
#Bears WR coach Tyke Tolbert with more praise for Chase Claypool: "I’m excited where he is. He’s more into what we’re doing offensively. He asks a lot of good questions. He’s here extra too — when he doesn’t have to be here, he’s here doing a lot of extra things, trying to get better, watching tape on his own, that kinda thing. He’s a big target, as we know. People forget that he’s 230 pounds but he ran a 4.42. He’s really fast. He was out here, and he was getting behind the defense a few times."

Getsy
"I think comfortability within the building, whether that’s being around the head coach, being around us on the offensive staff, his teammates," offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said Wednesday when asked where he sees a difference in Claypool. "And then, most importantly, Justin. I think that relationship is always the most important — the quarterback/receiver relationship. I think all that’s improving. As far as his knowledge of what’s going on around him, that’s improving. Because we demand a lot of that position, as we’ve talked about here plenty of times. That’s a big part of what we do with that role. It’s been good to see him be able to take a step there.

"To say where he is now, obviously, he’s definitely in a much better place. That’s what’s most important. Like coach Flus and those guys have said, I think that his positivity, his optimism coming into this thing, and his attack and his approach to how he’s trying to learn this thing is really cool to see."
Mooney's ding may have been a blessing in disguise when it comes to the Claypool/Fields connection. From May 23rd:

I am guessing that you don't know how "the law" works, but making genuinely an unquestionably bad decisions that cause you to be involved in another person's death doesn't necessarily make you complicit in their death. It does, however, show pretty poorly on a young man's judgment.

Most talented prospect in the draft and 9 teams pass on him before the team that doesn't need him and has the perfect situation to get him straightened out takes a flyer. It's the definition of character issues.
Yup, nothing to see here.

That said, I hope the Eagles get him straight. He'll be fun to watch if he commits. If they do, it will not represent what could be done at other destinations that aren't as secure and with so many Georgia teammate vets. This is a perfect situation for him. If he doesn't become special there or sign a second deal, it's a fail.

You know the track record that saw him passed up by two rookies on the depth chart and traded
AP News indicates that Claypool was traded because Pickens emerged as a better receiver, and this steelers blog at the time of the trade mentions that the WR room was crowded, with 7 guys on the depth chart. So unless you want to cite to some sources, it looks like you are making things up to appear that you are talking football. It appears to me that Claypool was not traded for character concerns.

Though you also compared for similarity, earlier in this thread, future HOF players smoking pot in the offseason to a top prospect being out of shape during the most important offseason workouts of his life. So I have trouble seeing your points as good-faith arguments.

I don’t think you understand the law in Georgia. Stick to awful & contradictory takes about Football but please stay out of Georgia State Law takes. Fun fact, this incident in some other states would have resulted in vehicular manslaughter charges.

It was a horrible trade and there is not point belaboring it. GMs make mistakes. This won't define his tenure. Darnell Wright and the 1st rounders next year will.
I was OK with the Packers offering a 3rd rounder for the guy. If you look at the recent history, our 3rd round picks stink! haha

@remydat will have to be put on CCS suicide watch if this whole Claypool/Bears thing doesn't work out for the team.

He's the only one i've seen that's been 100% behind this trade since it happened.

Report was the packers were offering a 2nd. Why bears gave up #32 vs the ravens pick, because the packers offer was better.

Im sure remy will be fine.

He likes claypool as a player and has since he was draft eligible. Now he's a bear. There is nothing wrong with being a hype man for a player you've liked for years.

There is something wrong being a hype man for a player like Shane Ray and then acting like you never said he'd be the next Terrell Suggs.

The report was Green Bay offered two draft picks -- its second-round pick and another late-round pick -- to Pittsburgh for Claypool.

I am saying I was fine with throwing a 3rd round pick at the guy (again, our history with 3rd rounders ain't good). My dad is diehard Steelers fan and said he's just not a good player, but I figured we stinks with 3rd round picks, why the heck not?

Steelers figured Bears pick was going to top 5 in the second round, so the Packers offer of (what they were thinking at the time) a later round 2nd pick and a late round pick is not as attractive.

I’m not saying this is the case but is it possible that Claypool is taking it easy and claiming to have this injuries just to protect his safety? Could the staff be pushing him to stay off the field if he does have these injuries and don’t want to exacerbate the issue.

It is probably the most important year for him and his family from a professional and monetary standpoint.

There are so many things this could be, I’m trying to keep faith and hope they’re just taking it easy for the betterment of the team but I can see how this would be extremely frustrating for the team and the higher ups
If he doesn’t perform this year he has no future in the league.
