The Vikings have continuity of system and coaches and the consensus is that they upgraded a few positions. The Bears did a complete coaching and offensive scheme change . The thinking is that the longer you work in a system the better you get.

The bottom line is that until the Bears prove otherwise they should be ranked 3rd in the division no matter what we as fans hope and believe will happen this year.

I hear you, but I didn't like the tone of Urlacher's remarks, again he made it seem as though we are as bad as Detroit. When Minny had 4 more Offensive pts than us last season but allowed 71 more points on D.

At this point...there are a lot of unknowns on this team. I don't have an issue with Urlacher's statement.

With the vikings getting 3 first round picks including Patterson and the addition of Greg Jennings, I think their offense got extremely more explosive. Not to mention AP is a monster. Yea we upgraded our Oline but lets not forget the other teams that upgraded as well... We finished 3rd last year, and with the vikings draft and free agent additions this off season in my opinion they improved more than us. I have the Bears at 3rd as well, which is why you can't really fault Urlacher for saying the same since it's the truth. Not to mention we have a new coach and new system.

That doesn't mean I don't hope we can't over achieve and win the division. Some of you people are pissed that Urlacher said we would finish 3rd? we finished 3rd last year! It's not like we were 1st and he's saying we'd downgrade without him...

This is just sad, way to support your ex teammates. I am not even saying he is wrong in his prediction, but I just don't see the benefit in saying this for him.

Opinions and assholes, everyone has one.
I think the bigger issue is BU is going Tiki light on the team. The guys he went to "war" with for years will now struggle to not finish last in the division.
It goes well with:
being insulted by the best offer he received.

Willing to play for less with someone else.

I've got no issues with that. If the improvements are as good as we all (some) think they are, this team could challenge GB for the division. If they're not, they could easily finish 3rd. Hopefully tonight looks much better than Friday night did for the players that matter.

Only one of their first round picks was on offense. Also, until I see anything from their QB I'll remain skeptical. I also fail to see how the vikings improved more than the Bears and the Vikings didn't have a better roster than the Bears last year. The Bears were done in by piss poor offensive coaching and the vikings got almost the single best season by a running back in nfl history and still finished with the same record as the Bears. I'm not saying I think they're bad but I don't think anything they've done in the off-season clearly puts them ahead of the Bears.

While the Bears improved on paper they are a mystery team with a new head coach and they have yet to show that they can field an offense that doesn't suck. On top of that the Vikings and Packers got better as well.

Lach's job is to be an analyst, not a homer.

With that said, his opinion of where the Bears will finish in the division means absolutely nothing but that's just stating the obvious.

I can understand those that claim that Urlacher is only being honest, but why does it seem like other players that leave their teams are loyal to the oranization. It seems like everybody is always a homer for their team when they leave Dallas, Pittsburgh, Giants etc. Urlacher the best player for the Bears in the last 10 years has to "keep it real" I guess. How much you wanna bet that Ray Lewis wont say the Ravens are 3rd or 4th best in their division.

(I generally hate Urlacher vs Ray-Ray comparisons but they both just retired)

the flip side is urlacher probably wants to be taken seriously for a paycheck. He can't be a clown and a homer like Ditka often is

GB has got to be the division favorite until someone knocks them off their pedestal. Personally I think Minnesota's record last year was a bit of an anomaly. Even with Greg Jennings, I think they take a step back. I think you can make a valid argument for #2 between any of the 3 remaining teams. Lots of questions on the Bears. Who knows how the offense will come together season 1? Offensive line? Defense continue to play at a high level etc etc? I think the Lions underperformed and are better (at least from a talent standpoint) than their record indicates. In short, I don't think he's being malicious...just sharing his opinion.

Brian Urlacher says that he thinks the Bears are the 3rd or 4th best team in the division...:shifty:
Seems like the guy could act like he has faith in his old teamates to take the division this year, or at least be better than the Viqueens. I guess we don't have to worry about calling him a homer...

(I cant post links yet but this is from Ross Jones, FOXSports.com)

FOX Football Daily will kick off on Monday Aug. 19 at 6 p.m ET. on FOX Sports 1 America’s New Sports Network. The FOX Football Daily crew held a call with the media to detail exactly what the show is and who will be featured on it. Here are some top takeaways from the media call:

Bears bound for playoffs? Brian Urlacher doesn’t think so

This sure won’t sit well with Chicago Bears fans, but future Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher thinks the Green Bay Packers are the favorites to win the NFC North.

“Yeah, I would consider them the favorite,” Urlacher said. “Two or three times around they’ve won the division and I would say that they are the favorite until someone knocks them off, they’re going to be the top dog in that division.”

Ok, fine. Easy answer. Surely, the Bears will be on their heels though right, Brian? Not so fast.

“I think Minnesota is right behind [Green Bay]. They got better in the offseason. They got Greg Jennings, they stole him from Green Bay and there defense has always been good. So, I think right now it’s between those two. Green Bay has a slight edge and it will be interesting to see how Chicago and Detroit can keep up in that division with those two teams.”

So the Vikings lose Percy Harvin but gain Greg Jennings and now they're all of a sudden a better team? Methinks GJ won't be as good without Rogers throwing him the ball. I think the Bears improved the most of any team in the division. Got a LT, a LG, a TE, a MLB that can run, and a new head coach that understands offense. I'll take our improvements over any team in the division.
