Knucleballer Joe Zeller is on the mound for Peoria tonight. He has a sparkling 1.69 ERA. One of the guys with low odds of making it that I am really rooting for to make it to the big leagues. Would be awesome to have a knuckleballer on the Cubs staff.

The Randy Wells hasn't really been healthy in two years is starting to look more and more likely.

So the Astros are trading better, they're tanking better, AND their minor league club kicked our minor league club's ass

or he is just bad

He was never as good as his rookie year, but something happened to him where he lost command and velocity. It could have been sudden onset badness, but injury isn't out of the question given that he had a forearm strain last year and now shoulder surgery. I fully expect him in a couple of years to be a scrap heap reclamation project by the Cards.

This viedo gives a glimpse at why some are so excited about Szczur. He is kind of like Samardzija in the sense that since he hasn't been full time baseball except for a couple of years he has got the possibility to be special, but a very low chance at reaching that point.

Was it an elbow this year or are you talking about last year?

I don't recall him ever having a shoulder issue, that was Cashner. The article I linked said elbow surgery which is consistent with the forearm strain he suffered last year.

Jae-Hoon Ha collides with cement wall in Jacksonville. On backboard. Ambulance on the way. Yikes
Taking time off from being pissed off about the Dempster screwjob to post this scary stuff.

No laughing matter there. And they wonder why I get so huffy about the brick wall at Wrigley Field.

Brett Jackson has one eight-pitch walk and one eight-pitch strikeout.

Now he just needs a homer on the eighth pitch and we will have our three true outcomes.
