With Bowles off the table and uncertainty around Ed Donatell, who would you guys like to see as the Bears’ DC?

This all may get resolved very soon, but in the meantime, I’d like to throw out the names of Kris Richard and Steve Wilks.

Who are some people you’d like as consideration for Bears DC?

In all seriousness though, I would try and promote Donatell. He did a fabulous job with the secondary, especially when Callahan and Jackson went down.

Kris Richard would be interesting. Wasn't he getting some Head Coaching looks?

Yes. He certainly fits the mold of a well-thought-of up-and-coming young football mind. Would you want someone like that on both the offensive side AND defensive side? So crazy, it just may work.

Was with Seattle 2012-17. Is now with the Cowboys. He’s had good success and is well-regarded.

Reading lots of good things about Gregg Williams.
Idiot, if you knew anything about Williams you would know he is a certified psychopath that has been in trouble for all sorts of bad behaviour. Another reason why most Bears fans are fucking idiots

Foot ****** will probably be loved in Chicago. I also think he’ll be very aggressive.

He was the DC with Seattle and then had a falling out of some sort before joining Dallas as the DB coach, right?

In his five years in Seattle, Richard’s defense ranked first, first, first, third, 13th (injuries, offense fell off)

As to why he was let go, Seattle media still trying to figure that out. Word is that Richard was too aggressive for Carroll’s liking, as Carroll preferred to make teams take the long way on an offensive drive, just keeping everyone in front of you.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...-he-blitzed-too-much-a-look-into-the-numbers/

Of all the coaching moves the Seahawks have made so far this offseason – and even of those that may still be to come — the one that on the surface has seemed the least explainable is the firing of defensive coordinator Kris Richard.
...
But Pete Carroll made the decision to jettison one of his longest-serving assistants — Richard had been with Carroll since his days at USC in 2008 — and bring back Ken Norton Jr. in his place, a move that former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren last week called puzzling during an interview on KJR-AM 950.
...
Among the reasons bandied about is that Richard might have been calling the game more aggressively than Carroll prefers. Carroll’s scheme is based on not getting beat deep, keeping passes in front of the secondary and forcing teams to have to go the long way to march for touchdowns with the idea being that the more plays it takes, the more likely the opposing offense is to mess things up (though it’s always been regarded that Carroll pretty much runs the defense anyway, no matter the coordinator.)
