The #Cubs say that Alfonso Soriano likely staying put, but things could change in August when he clears waivers.

Phil Rogers sucks at proposing or guessing trades, e.g. Dempster for Youkilis.

Soriano not going to #Tigers, but staying, with #Cubs, at least for rest of this week. He will easily clear waivers, of course, in August.

I think the issue is that the Cubs want prospects back and not the money, but perhaps I could be wrong.

I concur. As I said, I think it's a matter of the Cubs wanting something back that's worthwhile... and the Yanks aren't willing to give up anything, but want the Cubs to pick up the tab on Dempster anyway.

Yeah this started to late for it to get done given the money and everything involved. Plus no pressure to get it done now since no one will claim him.

Who is reporting this out of curiousity? I follow a bunch of the pirates guys and basically all the Cubs guys and didn't see that. Not doubting just want to see what it says.

Found it...

Well Pittsburgh and San Francisco apparently are off the list, but Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers appear to be on the list. There finally is interesting in a guy that is hitting.

I would be interested too if I were a GM if you were getting a guy that has hit this year for free. As reported teams would only take him if there was no loss if they had to cut him.

The money isn't the issue for the Cubs though. The issue is are they going to give the Cubs anything in terms of talent for the Cubs paying Soriano to play with them. I don't know what the interest level is at, but we were hearing nothing about Soriano have any market when Carlos Lee was traded twice. At least there is a market.

Three teams tried to trade for him this year. I think it was the Yankees that wanted him at the deadline but he blocked that since they were on his list apparently.

Bats are needed, and I understand teams not wanting to pay anything with the risks involved with Sori. I just wonder if there is a team that is willing to give up talent to make it worth the Cubs while to pay Sori to play for them. It certainly will be interesting with the way Soriano has been blocking teams.
