It has to do with idenity at this point, what is this team, what is the front office trying to make? at first I thought they were going the red wings route the year before and year they won the cup, that style...but it seems like they are stuck and dont know how to get out or find a direction....until they do we wont be elite for a while.

All good points. Even my dad, who is going to be 60 in June, has no clue on the direction of this team.

I dont think anyone really does. It seems confusing at times. They do a lot of knee jerk reaction moves like their offseason of old unskilled grinders that are tough because of how they were handled by vancouver. All they need is one bad ass and 1 or 2 pieces that are actually tough but skilled at the same time to counter teams like the blues and nucks. if they arent skilled there is no point and the team will most likely get undressed.

Nice race for the 8th seed in the west. Sure dont want to play LA ever in the playoffs. If they make it they can upset someone in the first round.

We probably would have to make it to the Conference Finals to see them anyway.

it was a general statement that i just wouldnt want to play them and that if they make it in they could give the 1st seed some trouble. the talent is there with the kings, they just havent put it together.

It's weird that you're super quick to make excuse for the Kings over and over but the Hawks are on the shit list even if they win some games.

When the other options among the top 5 seeds are Detroit, Vancouver, St. Louis, and Nashville ... yeah, I'd take Dallas. I'll take whoever wins that division, actually. Six seed looks good to me.

Behind that, only other team I'd want to see is Detroit. Those other top-seeded teams would resort to goonish, trapping hockey and I don't think this Hawks team has the ability to win those series with a patient counter-attack.

Detroit, meanwhile, plays a style of hockey that the Hawks can match: Free-flowing and end-to-end rushes. I'd rather see that than a clogged up neutral zone for a 7-game series.

Avs are only 4 points behind us. 6th seed isn't set in stone.

I'd consider Nashville the toughest matchup for the Hawks out of everyone in the west.

They're better than they've ever been, playing the same hockey that frustrates the Hawks (who have trouble with breakouts to begin with), they have Rinne as the last line of defense and they have the most efficient powerplay in the league.

Shit's nasty.

whoa slow down there joe jr.

excuse? no its not. Having your talent on paper produce in live action is one variable out of many variables that if you dont have that just one, you will not be a great team. Did I say they will win the cup? nope. Did I say they could have the potential to upset a first seed? yes. keyword is being potential.

stop getting your butt hurt if someone says something bad about the hawks. now run along and research some heads up stats for me yeah.

Imagine the Sharks as the #8 seed? No pressure.

Could be a dangerous 1st round match-up for the Blues, if it were to happen.

Maybe the 8 seed is what the Sharks need to finally accomplish something in the playoffs. All they've done in the past is under-perform.

Hawks sitting pretty right now in the 6 seed, got a 5-point lead on No. 7 Phoenix and No. 8 Colorado. Hawks have same number of games played as the Yotes and a game in hand on the Avs. Win these next two and you probably put a vice grip on that spot.

I'd have St. Louis in second, only because of their playoff inexperience. But if they can play the same style, and Hitchcock is very capable of making them do that, I'd hate to see them to.

Nashville could be a team on a mission come April. The pending losses that await them in free agency could strengthen their desire to make this the year.
