ha still haven’t lost $ on it, even despite the crazy bad day for crude
Well, it did its reverse split.. CUrrent price is 23.18----Except now you have far less shares and it will tank farther IMO
If you bought in for 1.60--Not sure how you are still green with that.--It was 1.34 before the reverse split which 15% loss

I couldn’t remember exactly where I bought in...so I was just saying I was basically even on it. Now as of today, I’m down due to it taking another massive hit. I still stand by the notion that gas isn’t going to remain this cheap forever

i am glad that I trimmed my portfolio by 10% when the Dow was just over 24K. Now we down under 23K and will continue downward for a bit I think

Oh I agree completely. But UCO is not how one is gonna make money. It's too manipulated and only designed for day trading. It will have tiny ups where one can make a buck or two and than keep falling. Not because of gas but rather because of trader manipulation and management. Reverse Splits never end well. And those tiny ups happen during the day in 30 min spans. If you arent there to catch them, you lose. Do you have a stop loss?

I think the dow is trying to test that April 3rd 21,052.00 number- My guess is it doesn't get there though. I'd be surprised to see 21,500.00

naa, it was a cheap speculative thing for me. I rarely do it, if oil rebounds over the next several months...it’ll be fine.

id actually be surprised if we don’t go below 21K. All the earnings and guidance are trash, the constant news of companies with garbage earnings and/or guidance is going to weigh on this market IMO. Right now it’s benefiting from it still being the start of earning season...nobody knows what earnings will be, just that they will be bad. Once they actually get to see the real numbers, it’s going to hurt bad IMO. There will be a few winners(amazon, stay at home type businesses) but those few winners won’t be able to keep the overall market above water. I don’t think the market has priced this in, simply because it doesn’t know what to price in at this point.

now, of course...if suddenly a vaccine comes out or something major of that nature, that could change the trajectory. It’s still a fluid situation

What do you guys use to research stocks and stay on top of news?

What do you guys use to research stocks and stay on top of news?

Most days, I google every position I am in. I look for any crazy stories that might mean a buying opportunity as I am long and a firm believer in 90% of my positions.

Every day, I google stocks biggest Losers and Gainers and then google news stories to see if it's something major enough to latch onto like a CEO getting fired or a lawsuit or even a death.

I believe in the market so a stock that falls big time normally has to have a reason.
I like PE ratios
I like to stare at charts.

My platform is Think Or Swim. I use that to trade DGAZ and UGAZ intra day or daily when I get a chance.
But mostly I am long. So most of my trades are buying more.

I don't day/swing trade enough to make a living but I want to get to that point.

Many people don't use Reddit but there are great subreddits with most of the news stories condensed into that sub-reddit. Try out R/investing or R/stocks------------r/wallstreetbets is a good laugh but sometimes someone in there will have a really good thought or idea that could mean a short term gain.

a few different ways
- have the CNBC app feeding me updates to my phone
- I have a robinhood account that’s smaller, but I like to use their platform for its ease of viewing. They also keep news info updates on any individual stock you want.
- I’ve got my news on my iPad set up to show me business, stock, world news related things.
- then also just my own searching on the internet. I’m a fan of researching companies balance sheets, P/E ratios, growth, etc

Thanks @MarylandBear111 & @knoxville7. I've been using m1 finance and they do a nice job of lining up news articles when you click on the stock. Been using investing.com app on my phone that gives me some news, and I've been using marketwatch/marketbeat/morningstar for balance sheets, p/e ratios, etc. Just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track. Majority of my portfolio is in the long game though with solid companies.

They had to report that before they did it. After he mentioned it, I looked it up and eventually found the report. I also learned what a reverse split is, and sold out before losing. So props to @MarylandBear111 for teaching me something before I learned it on my own lol. I used that money to buy more into SolarEdge technologies as a longer term speculation.

Word. I hadn't heard of a reverse split either but I do know what and how a split works, which is usually favorable to the stock holder. So a reverse split would be the opposite lol

But yeah, I looked into it as well, so now I know thanks to MB!

I just read up on this, Draftkings is merging with DEAC and another company. After the merger it appears DEAC will become whatever stock ticker Draftkings will be. At least that’s how I understand the process. It doesn’t appear to be a traditional IPO.

hmm that’s pretty interesting. It’s on my radar now...seems like a month ago was the time to get in(kinda like everything else). Have to see if it drops sometime and get in maybe. I do recall reading something about online companies, like a draft kings, are getting excluded from some states sports betting. I’ll have to go see if I can find those articles again.

edit - of course it was Illinois lol. They are still banned for the time being, but not for long apparently
