Ok so thoughts... Ammo prices go down if Trump gets re elected, we know that.

What happens if Biden gets elected? Do they spike further or do they slide???

CASES ARE HIGH BECAUSE TESTINGS IS HIGH. MORE TESTINGS MORE CASES.

Deaths are high because more testing! More testing and people DIE.

my stock experience is nothing more than an ESPP that with the discount and steady growth has produced consistent but moderate returns... just a no brainer purchase and hold to a decent but hardly earth shattering gain.

I do however think I would like to dabble with a smallish amount just for fun (i am absolutely certain that doing so with real savings would end badly for me at this point)

What trading service would people here use if they were going to just dabble for educational purposes?

Much obliged.

Do you have an account with E-Trade or TDAmeritrade for that ESPP?

If so I believe you can use it as a normal investment account as well, that's how mine is for E-Trade.

If not, I'd shy towards using the trading platform your ESPP is on.... I have E-Trade and TD accounts and I like both.

I do not- it is all done via fidelity.

Knee jerk and completely unresearched choice by me, but I automatically discounted E-trade due to their advertising blitz.. that shit costs money and my assumption was the more spent n advertising, the more they would gouge me for.
Is that an unreasonable assumption?

I feel like someone has been saying this would happen.

everyone knew volatility would go up and stocks would go down leading into the election. So yes, someone has been saying it...literally everyone

It is from what I know.... I've not been charged anything to use my E-Trade nor TDAmeritrade accounts.

When I decided to start buying stocks I simply went online, opened a TDAmeritrade account for myself, deposited money to buy with, and away I went.

E-Trade they created one for us with the company stock program, but I've never been charged to have it.

I have yet to use my E-Trade one for personal trading, it just holds my employee stock at this point.

What are the fees on that?
Are the resources good?

zero fees.
9% apr to float on margin.
0 commission

think or swim is awesome. it does crash sometimes but so does everything else. If you read charts by the min, I'd recommend it.

yep, anyone that pays attention knew this time frame would be rough. Only every CNBC persona, Forbes, etc...

hell, I’ve been telling people to get ready to buy VIX option calls

but go ahead thinking you knew something other people didn’t.

I will check it out-
I am trying to talk the lady in to a wager on it- each open an account with x amount, higher value in a year gets the equivalent of boths accounts.

That's a fun idea.
If you're married, you might want to look up with a accountant if 2 accounts are frowned upon. I think you are ok as long as you are on a cash account and not margin. But for tax reasons, my CPA tells me only have one trading account. Probably just makes it easier on him!
